The race you are about to see appear as originally broadcast and may contain imagery that is offensive and doesn't align with NASCAR's values. NASCAR has since permanently banned the display of the confederate flag at all events.
@@81casperflippre 9/11, riding the high of the 90’s. i can very easily see how someone would miss it. being born after 9/11 i wish i could have experienced the 90’s nascar scene
I went to this race with my late Dad. Sat inbetween turns 1 & 2. Race was great. Boos were loud. Had a perfect seat for seeing that cage rattled. My Dad lived in those townhouses at the golf course that was very close to the track. Had season tickets at Bristol for over a decade but when they put in that progressive banking we thought the change made the racing suck and it wasn't worth paying for 4 seats to all the races, practice and qualifying. Wish it was 1999 again. No 9/11 and wars and my Dad was alive. Miss those days.😢
wow i wish we can get more races with this amount of quality. there’s mid 2000s races i can barely watch because it’s so blurry. More uploads with this quality please !!!!
go watch first night race at daytona at the start, its CRAZY the amount of flashes. man....we will never see anything like that again i remember those days
Man I still have this race recorded on VHS along with other races of the 90s. It was a great time being a race fan back then. Just look at that crowd! It was like that every weekend. I always wanted to go to Bristol then but never had the chance. You don't see that now. I use to be a season ticket holder to Michgian and it was always sold out as well. I finally attend a Cup race for the first time in 13 years, couple years ago at Charlotte for the Roval and I have to say it definately ain't the same vibe. The crowd then pales to what it is look like today. The sport had so much going for it then: the drivers with character, the colors of the cars, & recognizable sponsors. I gotta say though I sure do miss Pontiac! As much as I like the looks of the Monte Carlo, those grand prixs sure looked stout and 'wide trackin' too!
This was my favorite era of NASCAR. Great racing, great cars, drivers who America knew outside of the NASCAR bubble. Kyle Larson once said when he won his NASCAR championship nobody outside of racing knew his name. He said that America doesnt have the same love of NASCAR it once had.
1999 1. ABC airs the 200th episode of Home Improvement, and Home Improvement ended its run after 8 seasons and 204 half-hour episodes on ABC. 2. Austin City Limits in its 24th season on PBS, and the show adopted the slogan "Where Music Lives". The Nanny ended its run on CBS after 6 seasons and 144 half-hour episodes. Walker, Texas Ranger in its 7th season during the 1999-2000 season on CBS. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart premieres on Comedy Central. 3. Giant Records released Clay Walker's Live, Laugh, Love album, Curb Records released Tim McGraw's A Place in the Sun album, MCA Records released George Strait's Always Never the Same album, Dreamworks Records released Toby Keith's How Do You Like Me Now?! album; it was Toby Keith's first album since signing contracts with Dreamworks Records, after Toby Keith had left Mercury Records in 1998. 👍
wow! watch this race compared to what we just watched with this crap nextgen last night. Not even in the same room. this place was sold out, cars were awesome, no gimmicks or bullshit cautions, no stages. This was Racing.
Watching this race, it's fun to watch Earnhardt, Terry Labonte and Spencer gradually get their car better as the race goes on and run up front for the latter part of it. Ricky Rudd too; he actually got lapped early but was up there in the Top 5 at race’s end.
I was there as a 10 year old sitting in the front row between turns 3&4. One of the greatest sports events I've ever attended. Always remember the boos when Dale got out of his car in victory lane and the beer cans flying over my head people threw on the track as he went by on the victory lap. Hated it at the time as a Jeff Gordon/Hendrick bfan but glad I got to witness a great moment in NASCAR history
I don’t mean to sound like such a kid. But I couldn’t help but keep my 1:24 Corn Flakes Terry Labonte die cast by me while watching this classic of a race. I love Dale so much but my favorites growing up were the Labontes with Bobby in his unforgettable green interstate batteries car and Terry’s blue Frosted Flakes early 00s car. How could you Dale 😭😭
1:55:38 Wow, the crowd going berserk because of a clean pass for 2nd with 75 laps to go. That would be unheard of these days lol. The current fans aren't nearly as invested in the sport and drivers as we were back then.
As a fan of the black #3 I loved this race. For him to pit on the back stretch and finish where he did was amazing. No one had ever won from the back stretch, but I would have preferred a 2nd place finish than him spinning Terry out like he did to win.
"...hey everybody, I saved you a seat in the luxury box at Bristol... a luxury box at Bristol, that's pretty silly to me. This is a shrimpy track with a reputation for turning race cars into meatballs, a smorgasbord of broken parts and twisted pieces. Race car drivers may whine about it, but race fans, we love it! Time for me to hit the road..." (beginning of the famous intro to this race)
Back 🔙 when Nascar was Nascar and not NasCrap and you could change a Radiator on Pit road and still race when you get it fixed now its that 5min rule hell they have one redone in 10mins give em 3 more it be fair 😂
2:17:35 Dale Earnhardt being booe'd? But...Kyle Busch(and Gragson, and Hocevar)fans told me that "no one had a problem when dale did it" Though looking at the tape, lots of people had a problem with it...
I mean Dale shouldn’t have done it, but at the same time Terry almost deserved it for not knowing better… like you’re gonna sideswipe Dale while you blow by him, almost taunting, then leave your a** dangling out there and expect him not to do anything? Comeon.
See as of today the number 3 would have got a penalty...but back in the day..that was racing...that's why the stands were full and they were building more stands...because when you went to a race back then you never know what was going to happen...but back then the drivers and team owners had more to say...its not like that anymore...
I'll never understand how people praise Dale for this move. It wasn't just dirty, it was pathetic. Labonte pulled off magic to get by him, then he throws a fit and wrecks the 5.
@@ayrton42 1 Terry hits Dale first 2 rubbing is racing 3 3 Dale barely touched him Not pathetic at all A real racer does anything to win move or get moved
Not gone lie I had a soft spot in my heart ♥ for Ole Chad Little to new he wasn't gone win but pulled for him to do good kinda like Dick Trickle cigarettes 🚬 smokeing self only man allowed a cig lighter in his car 😂😂
Part of why I never had a problem with this move in this specific situation was because NASCAR's rules about pitting on the back stretch back then were pure garbage. The only reason Terry was even able to get close to him was because of his tire advantage, an advantage he only had because of the stupid back stretch pitting rules. I know I'm right about this because they got rid of those stupid rules a long time ago. They were never fair.
@@cbrunnem6102 In the days before the longer pit roads that wrap around turns where necessary, they used to have 2 pit lanes at Bristol. Some of the cars would pit on the front stretch and others would pit on the back stretch. If you were pitting under green, then it would essentially work the same as it does now in terms of pit delta. However, if it was under yellow, everybody pitting on the front stretch would have a significant advantage because they would get to finish their pit stops, pull back on to the track and then speed up to catch the pace car, passing everybody pitting on the back stretch in the process. This usually ended up with most, if not all, of the cars pitting on the front stretch getting to restart in front of every lead lap car pitting on the back stretch, regardless of previous running position or the speed of their pit stops. Earnhardt got stuck with a back stretch pit box in this race. This meant that if they wanted to pit at the end of the race, they would have probably needed to come out as the last car on the lead lap or close to it with only a few laps remaining on the track with the shortest lap times. They basically had no choice but to stay out. Terry was pitting on the front stretch. There was no downside for him pitting for fresh tires. This is the only reason he got back to the front so quickly. If everybody would have been able to pit for fresh rubber, then even with his fast car that night, he would have never had time to work his way to the front in only a few laps if everyone was on equal tires. The rule was always garbage. Simply put...if we had the 2023 pit lane in 1999, Earnhardt would have won anyway, but without the last lap drama.
STFU, that doesn't mean all rules of racing get thrown aside and you can run your competitors over. This is the most garbage reason to simp for the most garbage driver's most garbage move.
