That and the fact the gearing is all off by a mine. My mate had the same year and model as this and was lightning fast compared to this. The give away is the bike sounding like its in the same gear all the way through :-/
The next bike you buy Joe, should be a yz125. They rip like hell. I know you guys ain't a big fan of YAMAHA because they're slow, well the yz250 is slow but the yz125 is faster than the 250's. If you buy a decent yz125, you'll be very amazed with the power. The yz125's powerband packs a mean punch as well
I called it the very first day you purchased it. I loved racing those 1986 tru 1990 Honda CR125's with the 1988 thru 1990 being my favorite years (1990 was when they switched over to that Cylinder). No matter what you do the the 1998 and newer Honda CR125's they will never get faster than the 1990 thru 1997 Honda CR125's with the same mods.. It is because when they switched over to the Aluminum Frame they choked the motor with the Airbox Design and nothing you can do to fix it. Ignition curve on the 1998 and newer Honda CR125's is way off too and if you over port them they will pop on Top End and cut out at Rev's. That 1990 Honda CR125 works well with Pro Circuit Porting and Pipe or just with a FMF Gold Series Pipe (the Standard one) and Boyesen Rad Valve with 13/51 gearing.
I just bought a 1989 and I was told that the 1986, 1987 models were some of the fastest CR125 and then in 1988 they did some type of new design that lost some horse power and performance but then they went back to the 86 design in 1989 but then in 1990 they went to the newer design or some new design but it was with less performance than the 89. Thus the 1986, 87 & 89 were the best years for performance, or so I was told. So is that not accurate?
Instead of thinking that you are the best rider on this planet please let your Younger brother show you how to shift a motorcycle... By the way he let you win.. If you think you can ride better than him let's see a wheely contest..
That would be entertaining and in the early 70s in Europe they had dead starts where the rider had to keep his left hand on his helmet until the starter shot his gun in the air to begin the race. Joel Robert would leave his hand on top of his helmet to the first turn doing a wheelie all the way!
Josh Frank no stock exhaust would make the bike flat on the top end, the thing should rev hard as hell before sounding flat and even when it does flatten out it’s much more high pitched like a screaming 2 stroke, with the 90 it almost sounds like a bog
The bike is sounding good you just need to dive into the clutch issues! You are over revving that little motor and need to learn the power curve and how to stay in it! You scored 4 of 5 squirts 💥💥💥💥 on the WD-40 rating scale losing one squirt for pinning it too long and wringing its neck between gears! Still very intertaining though!
@Twisted-X H over revving just wastes time and good engines you'll always be faster staying in the power and avoid over revving! It is amazing the abuse these little motors can withstand!
@@wd-40everything65 I can attest to that. I beat my cr 125 hard it put up a good fight towards the end. the majority of the abuse came from hill climbing. Weak bottom end though when you need the extra kick it's not there. Any bike will haul ass on pavement you gotta get it into the sand to see what it truly has
To see two brothers enjoying each others company is worth any video. Both bikes "Kill". I see Charlie dyed his hair again . Looks better. Yes, they do sound like two Bees fighting. lol Great video. Keep them coming, Guys. My boys love you two. They keep looking for the next video. Stay well and safe.
Dude you are redlining it way to much man your gonna blow it up💥 btw love your channel ben a sub since the beginning and you should get a 1981-1983 dr125 there cool bikes and they go fast i have 2
I got the 89 cr250 its clapped out but runs an drives was a 300$ bike i had 750$ in my 94 cr125 it was pretty nice i miss it but my clean title 800$ 01 yz250f has been my best score yet was a nice deal I couldn't say no to
Had a 2000 cr125 and a 1986 cr125 hated the way the 86 handled but the motor that thing was quick! The 2000 i loved the way it handled but always seemed underpowered. always wanted to some how put the 86 motor in the 2000 frame To me if it were possible it would be a killer on the track.
If you dont pic up that slipping clutch then I don't know. I bet you charlie is holding back. No ways that '90 with that clapped out clutch will beat the "99. Sorry buddy, you need too replace friction plates and fit heavy duty clutch springs.
WHEN I GET BACK INTO WORK AFTER THIS LOCKDOWN,IF ITS OK CAN I SEND YOU £1500 to get me a cr 125,lol,,and if it’s possible can you send it in the post,,lol,,here in the uk they are really asking silly money for them,THEY USED TO BE SO COMMON,BUT IN THE LATE 1990,s,WE HAD THE FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE,AND I WOULD SAY %95 OF THE MOUNTAINS WERE LOCKED SHUT,AND DIRTBIKES JUST DISAPPEARED,AND NEVER REALLY GOT BACK,THEY HAVE PAY AND PLAYS,BUT THATS IT,HONESTLY FOR. 1996 CR125 IN FAIR CONDITION,THEY ARE ASKING £2200,YOU JUST CANT MAKE NO MONEY FROM THEM,THEY SEEM TO BE EVERYWHERE IN YOUR COUNTRY,,,LUCKY BASTARDS,,HAHA,,,OH AND BRILL CONTENT AS ALWAYS LADS,
Wasn't there a problem with the early 90s cr125s that would cause you to loose a gear in the transmission? And no not lose a gear like it fell out I mean not being able to shift into that gear any longer like you would have to skip over it?
@Tom Bateman I sold my honda cr 125 1994 to a honda cr 250R 2001, And i LOVE it! Its a blast to ride. And this is my opinion, but i like it more than my friends 2015 250 KTM sx. THATS MY OWN OPINION, dont get mad at me about it.
Well the day arrived and guess what....Joe you whipped Chucks ass !!!!!.Cracking race and those bikes sound fantastic.I often think you have good neighbours !.Canny wait till your next video.Well Done.Chris
That clutch is wasted. Its not supposed to stay peaked at its RPM when you're shifting the rpm should go down when you shift. I swear to you if you put new clutch plates in it will be a impressive pull on Charles.
Correct me if im wrong but i get this feeling that your buddy struggles with some level of depression and you seem like a great friend who knows how to get him out of his head. Ive struggled with depression for years and still do but my dirtbike makes me feel so much better when i ride. Not trying to sound crazy but i can sense that your buddy is going through some personal things and i hope yall stick together and continue to ride like yall do.
So ya cr 98 have work done but still tad bit slower then ya cr 1990 . So ya kx 250 obviously needs work cus ya cr 98 almost won . So take ya cr 1990 vs kx 250 and take ya kx 250 vs ya yz 250
I have a 89 cr125 it was the fastest production bike in that year but I need to locate a new side case for it mime the water jacket rotted through the case and it doesn't hold water.😂
I just got a cr125r 1990 guy said he rode it and its been in garage for a couple years any suggestions on what i should do first to get it ripping im guessing carb needs cleaned first
Should sawp the front fenders over hate the the new style like them more curved like on the 99 u have but love the retro style of the old 2smokes put new style fender on the 99 look way better the new style don't look right on the retro bikes
