Something seemed off, and when I thought about it I have never seen a kookaburra carry things with there feet. They usually kill snakes first buy shaking and slamming them around using their beak and then carry them off dead in their beak. Should have had the kookaburra flying off with a limp snake hanging from its beak to be realistic. 🍻

Damn boys! I am an hour late and they are already SOLD out! Good job BN community! First reaction. I like it. You guys did not mention the gold standard of a bird with a snake, the LIBERTAD ❤️❤️❤️ Rubes hit it right about the textures. This design would be amazing in proof/reverse proof. What about 10oz and 1 Kilo version? Kookaburras have a maximum mintage of 500,000. They only recently have hit that number as far as minting. As per the Perth website itself for mintage numbers.

On the Perth mint website it is interesting that for the 2023 1oz silver Kookaburra it does Not say Sold Out , it says no longer available . 2018,2019,2020 , 2021 have not come anywhere near mintage sell out .

@@monotremata9892 and yet the coins will often say "out of stock" on the Perth Mint website, a few months after release. Maybe the Perth Mint cuts the mintages short, due to lack of supply 🤷

They need to put a ring between the legend and the effigy. It just needs that small detail to add that finishing touch the obverse.

I live in British Columbia,maples are my first choice but kooks are usually my second. I’ve got some 10 oz kookaburra coins from different years and quite a few 1 oz kooks as well,love Perth mint products 😎

Our Kookaburra's certainly use their beaks when snatching up lizards and worms etc but I guess the designer had to weigh up the aesthetics given the proposed market would not be a group of avid Kooka followers and it also ties in with the USA and their Eagle with it's Talons latched onto something. The design is totally wrong. Kookaburras catch prey in their beals, not claws. Birds of prey use their claws, and kooks aren't 'birds of prey'. I reckon you'd find more kooks on birdbaths than with snakes in their claws.

G'day Stephen , They are actually a bird of prey , there are lots of Kookaburras in the bush along a river near home and i often see them with small mammals in ther claws .

They’re a kingfisher.. seen many many but never with food in their claws. .. only beaks. I reckon it’s more controversial than the birdbath mate 🤣 photo or it never happened.
