1st cav was the first to see combat against the Chinese in the Korean War and the first to make it into Tokyo during ww2 earning the motto “First team” keep in mind these are the only ones that I have been taught about while in 1st Cav but pretty much we are most likely to see combat first based on who we go to war with. One of my favorite people to ever be in 1st Cav is Fr Emil Kapaun who was awarded the Medal of Honor

He was likely an exchange student who went to CAV Scout school and earned his spurs and Stetson. He was marching with the command group either due to having a high rank or as a position of honor as a foreign exchange student. At least that's my guess. If he was permanently assigned he'd have a US uniform.

There have been a large number Canadian officers serving in various positions. As I recall one now retired Chief of Defence Staff had served as the Deputy Commander of VII Corps. It provides our people with the opportunity to deal with higher echelons then they'd be able to here in Canada. And in return they provide a different way of looking at things . I think both Armies benefit from it .
