This one kicked my butt and the Texas heat did not help. I was able to get it done though!

The bolts weren't too long, the CV axle shaft just sit closer after lowing. Also, just for future reference, always put a nut on the bolt before cutting off length of thread. Then you can back the nut off and it will recut your threads. If you don't do it that way, you'll fight getting the nut back on most times. Lastly, it's a wheel chock, not chuck, not being nasty either. I called it that until someone taught me differently too. Keep up the hard work man.

Dude...all you needed were combination wrenches and you would have been done in minutes! I used the new washers with my cleaned up original hardware! Thanks for the video!

Great upgrade about 80% of a front sway bar. I still have mine.

On mine the previous owner installed the bolts upside down so it’s sort of close to the cv axle shaft but it doesn’t rub unless I have a lot of travel in the suspension but I’m planning on fixing the bolts and maybe getting the bushings

Saw on the scion forum to just get the bushings and a 4 inch grade 8 bolt and you can go top down with it and you skip the spacer. Ill let you know how it goes.

I remember doing this on my old gen 1 👊🏾 Did you try flipping the orientation of the bolt so that the longer side of the bolt points down?

@@OilandGears ya I’m sure it will be . But I live in the Pacific Northwest so we have a lot of time on are hands here in the winter. And it’s been a idea I’ve had for this car since I bought it five years ago so I’m excited. There is a guy that lives on my island where we live and it’s awesome all the attention it gets people are confused are what there looking at . How long have you had yours . I just found your channel this afternoon I went out side to look at my car and my bolt is completely bent on mine wish I could upload a picture of it so I just wanted to see a fast and easy way to get it off . I drive 83 miles to work every day one way . So on Sundays I like to do my work on it .

Good job. My endlink bolt is facing down. But I did the bushing at the same time and having that unbolted gave me lots of maneuverability. However, Unbolting the passenger side bushing was tricky. What I did wrong, and most of us do it; is tightening the end links with the wheels off the ground. The car is supposed to be on the ground and level before you tighten them down. You may experience alignment issues if you don’t do it this way. I need to loosen and re-tighten mine because it pulls to the left a bit now.
@OilandGears
@OilandGears 2 года назад
I wasn't able to do the bushing because of clearance where the bolts are. I didn't have any pulling to either side but got an alignment anyway. I had the bushings added since they had the correct tools for those particular bolts. The ride is night and day. Very worth the trouble lol
@LujinCustom
@LujinCustom 2 года назад
@@OilandGears yeah the driver’s side bushing was easy breezy. But the passenger side was a PITA. I’m going to do the lower control arm bushings and possibly struts before I get an alignment. That’s why I’m not rocking the wheels and tires yet.

Um, an end wrench, open or closed would have helped instead of vice grips and a dremel to cut the nut… just sayin
@ll_avail_ll9050
@ll_avail_ll9050 Год назад
Ok so I just use the jack to support it in place , so is there any spring tension? I loosened the nuts and wasn’t sure if the bolt is supposed to have play
@OilandGears
@OilandGears Год назад
If it's the old endl8nks there will be play because they are old and flat. Once you add the new endlinks and bolts, there shouldn't be any play.

Yea it has no spacers 12mm nut and a flat square in the center bolt it’s 10mm 🔧
@jb-ir1mb
@jb-ir1mb 2 года назад
I’m having that same rubbing issue on the axle and I tried to flip it so the nut is on the bottom but couldn’t clear enough space to get it all in there on the passenger side. Even with both end links off and the sway bar loose I still couldn’t. So I had to reinstall how I had it. Could you offer any advice?
@OilandGears
@OilandGears 2 года назад
I used a grinder and cut the bolt to make it shorter and I have no rubbing.

@@OilandGears thanks for getting back to me. I think that’s what I’m gonna end up doing too. I recently put my xB on lowering springs and shorter shocks and struts. I wish they made an aftermarket sway bar end link that adjusts for the smaller gap between the axle and the lower control arm. The only way I could think to get a big enough gap to flip the bolt would be to remove the whole strut assembly and find a way to move that axle
@Jason_Voorhees.

@@OilandGears did the same, I think that was my post on the xb forum , I did mine like 3 months ago, same product and drooped an Amazon link lol
@typhoon320i
@typhoon320i Год назад
Haha....dude that bolt will never touch the axle, It's attached to the lower control arm. The axle and the control arm, move as one unit, during compression and rebound.
@theterrestrialnomadpodcast4442
@theterrestrialnomadpodcast4442 7 месяцев назад
When you jack the car up and spin the tire it rubs. I had to install like this too because no clearance and ended up cutting the bolt too. Think you need to unbolt the control arm to give it enough play
