It would be cool but would instantly become the most expensive knifes lmao imagine the animations of the butterfly with the look of the karambit tho, holy fuck that would be sexy
Have to say, I use this knife daily and I love it, it functions well as a utility knife and I also carry it for defensive purposes. After carrying a regular balisong for a little over a year it was hard to get used to opening this knife but I eventually got it, you just have to keep in mind this knife was not designed for tricks. I love this knife and would recommend it to anyone.
Two of my best friends recently got their own kerambits. I had wanted one of my own, though I hadn't found one I liked until now. Not only do I like it, this is one of the coolest, most unique knives I've ever seen! Thanks so much for the video, Jeff.
When you hold that kind of knife the way it is supposed to be held in combat, The way the blade crests reminds me of a bee attempting to sting something with its abdomen.
For backwards pocket clips, I just put the knife into the main pocket and clip it to the little coin picket or whatever it is, so its clipped and secure, not hanging out but facing the right way. Give this a try if you can't or just don't want to flip the clip. Hope that helped.
I can already tell that this thing will be great at ripping boxes open and slicing thick cardboard with a nice strong grip. My speakers are broken so I can't hear the video, what's the steel on this blade?
Jeff, how practicable is it to use a ballisong for EDC? I like camping, Survival, And bushcraft. I'm wanting to try something new, And my birthday is coming up on the 14th! And I'd much rather take an opinion from an expert. My typical kinda knife is just a pocket knife or survival knife. Right now, My EDC knife is a Gerber Bear Grylls folding sheath knife and a Gerber obsidian. (I like Gerber(: ) But please reply! thanks in advance!
OK i am from NYS and i know there was a repeal on balisong's illegality because they aren't considered a gravity knife anymore... now i was wondering... would this thing be considered a gravity knife? Because of the locking mechanism and it not being a true balisong? I am interested in picking it up but i'm wondering about it's availability and even being ok to carry in NYS..
Thanks for the video I would to be able to own something like Balisong however I live in NY where most things are illegal. I would love to move to PA in the Poconos area may have to drive to NYC for work once a week. Can you please recommend a good area to rent a decent house (like yours) or buy a good starter home. I heard Bushkill is nice I was just wondering if specific areas of Bushkill are better and/ or other areas that are recommended. I am single 31 single male if that makes a difference
I have to ask, because I have looked everywhere I can. Is there a place I can get a fixed, double edged karambit for under $50? All the karambits I have seen ore single edged, even though from what I know, the traditional ones are double edged. The ones I have seen that are double edged are either falsely advertised as such, over $50, or custom made and over $200. Why is it so difficult to get a double edged karambit for cheap?
So because of the locking mechanism is it a balisong or a folding knife. My state does not allow the carry of balisongs so that would throw my desire out the window.
What kind of work is this rediculus thing supposed to preform? A knife it a tool that's maybe a box opener however the end of the blade doesn't appear to come to an edge
the cuts are on the top of the blade to give more pressure on the tip of the blade while pushing there. while pushing, your thumb wont slip just like on the handle
If anybody knows, What is OEM products? I buying a trainer since I cant get a real one here and wanted to know if it means it is a cheap quality trainer or whatever. Thanks
Having seen every one of your videos, this is probably my second favorite knife that you have reviewed. It is second to your crocodile knife (The spyderco worker). This is also the first knife that I really like that I can afford, so I will probably be picking one of these up in the near future.
Does anybody got this knife recently but instead of the one in the video the ring in yours was a little bit oversized? It is posible that Mantis changed the model or something? To make it worse? :(
have you done any stress tests with it? I know from personal experience that Mantis' MV-X steel is usually pretty bad, or just a coverup for using cheap steel.
thanks for the awesome vid bro. as a flipper and a karambit fan, i was looking at this thing since it was announced. after this vid, i kinda think imma reconsider getting this. i was honestly debating between this and a kimura v, and having to choose, i'm more of a flipper at heart. keep up the good work man.
very cool knife jeff, being a great guy pays off when people show their love for your channel by saying to themself, hmmm. thats cool I bet jeff would appreciate this and then make a kick butt video about it, well done my friend
cutlerylover I was wondering who makes a karambit that is pocket assisted that has the hook on the back that will open as I pull it from my pocket I know Doug Marcaida makes one with FOX knives but $100 plus is out of my range right know does mantis make any. Also what is the pocket assisted hook called?
The "hook" is called a wave, coined by Emerson knives' tactical opening method. Some spydercos have it, but it is called a wave. They are usually expensive,
no, they only had one folding karambit, and it wasnt a balisong, that was my point, to say just buy an emerson is like saying if you want an endura just buy a cold steel voyager, same thing right, lol
where can I buy one? +does anyone know if its legal in Canada. I would think no since its a ballisong but I saw one with a 2" blade or something like that that is legal in California so I'm curious if its the same with Canada.
I'm glad Mantis finally got around to putting these out. I heard that a lot of what they had was stolen from Blade show last year. I'm gonna have to grab a few of these. Very cool design.
