The Sur-Ron X won 1st Place in the Sportsman Class!
The race was a hare scramble format and each lap was just over 5 miles. I completed 3 laps in 58 Minutes to win my race class. The bike went into Eco Mode on the last lap and finally died 4 turns from the finish line!

Yes speed up and slow down wastes a lot of power and braking which ultimately require lots of corrective control. Having a lighter bike that doesn't have to slow down as much for cornering with lots of steady power can average out to be more successful.

I enjoyed the POV and the in-race commentary. Thanks for taking the time to edit down your hour's worth of footage down to 23 minutes of exactly what it's like to run the Sur-Ron X along side gas powered bikes in 2019. It looked quick, nimble, light, and hard on the body. I look forward to the fast evolution of e-bikes and what's to come.

I LOVE mine, and we need to manufacture something like this HERE! I remember being "that guy" on Mountain bikes when NO ONE knew what THEY were. Now it's "What's that called???" and instead of my answer in 1982; "a Mountain Bike" I get to say "it's (sadly, ANOTHER CHINESE product folks!) a Sur-Ron". **UPDATE** This is the video that started it ALL for me... Sportsmans isn't a comp class. Pro, A, B, C are comp classes. Sportsman is a fun class.

Correct. Most series won't allow different bikes like ebikes or trials bikes in competitive classes but will allow them in the fun classes.

Better take a knitting coarse soon because like everything else the mods for the SurRon like the new BAC4000 controller is sending these 110 lbs bikes to an intsant 80 mph at 26 hp! So buy the time you get out of 2nd gear they'll be gone & hard to make up that time to catch them!

I wanna ride one so bad! As a former motocrosse dude (now 35 and old), I'm curious as to if I had to ride it more like a mountain bike or dirtbike..and what it feels like taking the bumps and hits when you're bombing. Regardless, the fact I could ride this essentially anywhere and stealth is so god damn tempting and intriguing too!

@Champa Totally man! They're really fun. Coming from a moto and mountain bike background, it's best to ride these somewhere in the middle. It's best to pick your lines like you're on a mountain bike and carry your momentum in the corners (saves energy and faster). Stealth factor is the best part. Where do you live? Maybe we can get you on one. And come on, 35 is not old!! 👍

I just put a Boxxer fork and a stiffer shock spring on mine. The stock headset low quality. Cake Creek part numbers for the top and bottom are BAA0080K top and BAA0737K bottom. If your fork has a straight taper steering tube you need the BAA0009S adapter. You can get all three for less than $60. Luna wants $90. One thing you really should do is get a direct mount handlebar clap. Your triple clamp is drilled for it. No more out of sync bars.

Incredible ride man - I’m aching all over just watching it! I haven’t been following Electric dirt bikes since a few years ago when I really wanted a Zero but just couldn’t afford one. I’m surprised that the other folks at the event seem surprised at your results too, I kinda assumed electrics might be more common place by now. I guess we’re still on the leading edge of this whole movement, right?

Good job and great to see you mixing it with the big boys. Sounds like you need a spare battery back at the pits. Was interested in hard enduro on one of these but seems like need a bit more power for the steep hills. Keep the videos coming and let us know your mods.

Thanks John! The sand track really ate up the battery but yes a spare battery and quick pit stop would definitely solve that concern. The steep loose hills are tough. I am going to test different gearing on steep climbs like we talked about and will have something to check out soon. Thanks for watching!

@@JustinCrediblename It would absolutely help. It doesn't get back up to speed very quickly in this type of sand so keeping momentum really helps speed and battery life. Having a 2nd battery and doing a quick swap in the pits mid-race is most definitely the way to go at this point.

15 miles of hard riding - great riding I might add. Super impressive all around! Sur Ron got bought out by Segway - Ninebot. I saw that Sur Ron came out with a bigger moto bike. Only sold in China market so far, but with Ninebot funding, maybe a big market for it here in the 'States. My thought is bigger battery = more range and top speed.
