Because 'the man from river dance' aka Michael flatly does river dance, this is irish dancing. River dance is continuously danced in heavy shoes. Irish dancing is danced in soft shoes and in heavy shoes.
From what I've read, some of the hard shoe dances were traditionally for men, and slip/crochet jigs were traditionally for women. Don't quote me on it though
Dante Perry not all reels are the same, nor are the other dances. My dance school regularly changes their dances s they aren't similar to other schools.
