from a contemporary pov, that's not necessarily true as a band top 20 sure, Stairway to Heaven though top 3 the criteria for these golden oldies are asking someone born after 2000 to name top 5 of best songs of an artist from 2010 backward, if 5/5 then u could say under 10 and I believe there's no "the best" in top 10 just 50 names sharing top 10; otherwise where u put Tom Petty or Iggy Pop Like. Queen, Boh Rap, Rocku, Radio Gaga, We the Champs but not only OOOOLD that includes 50, Wayne, Em... music changes, "the best criteria changes" its always been like.... hm like Godfather, no one even dares to mumble a bad word about it, its a classic and everyone knows it but no man living can say I've seen that movie multiple times. its always a mix of *quality X appeal X time X personal Opinion*
@@TheAmirhossssein I agree that "top 10" lists are totally subjective and kinda worthless imo, but the sheer impact zeppelin had on almost every facet of music is unmatched. Without them, music wouldn't be the same. They've inspired artists in damn near every genre, obviously rock, hip hop production, r&b, electronic, pick a genre. I rarely listen to led zeppelin, just not really my kind of music, but at their time they were gods amongst men.
@@sjh100975 Zeppelin was using the latest technology available to them. Just like today’s artists are using computers. Can’t hate today’s experimentation while loving the the experimentation of the classics. Zep aligned the stars so it’s just not fair to compare the pioneers of the 70s to modern music. Bc in 50 years, who’s to say which artist of “now” will be considered pioneers in 2070.
Hey man, it was the 70's with the psychedelic music. 😆 If you like Led Zeppelin, you have to listen to Black Dog. The song is as old as I am, but it still rocks today!
Their "Rock and Roll" and "When the Levee Breaks" are mind-blowers, too. For a special treat, try "When the Levee Breaks" with their friend who plays the HURDY-GURDY for a 4-minute introduction. Mesmerizing!
Something no one is mentioning is this album came out at a time when a lot of artists were experimenting with the effect of sound within the mixing. Sending parts left to right, having trippy effects was as much experimenting with sound as it was a result of experimenting with drugs lol and for the most part, the breakdown section is something they expend massively in life performances. While it doesn’t come off as much in this, the main juxtaposition is there for when the guitar riff comes back in. Would love to see you react to this whole album, it’s the opener off their second which is one of their best 👏
@@andychristensen2947 Which i agree is an awesome spectacle but the song overall will very likely be appreciated more by listening to the studio version first. I'd only recommend checking out that much rougher live performance where one component of the music stands out only after being able to clearly hear how amazing every component of that song is.
The one thing that I wish more Hip Hop artists would do, is actually play instruments and play some of their music when they make beats or instrumentals
The intermission is actually really rhythmic once you get your ears accustomed. It follows a nice pattern, but it takes more than the first listening. Zeppelin were masters at experimenting with sounds, great times. Also, "Babe, I'm gonna leave you" is a must if you want to see pure vocals. But first you gotta develop them Led Zeppelin ears, so maybe Stairway 🤘🔥
So true about developing the led zeppelin ears, when i first started listening to them i only liked whole lotta love and the end of stairway, now? Put it this way i own all 8 of there albums. Tangerine been possibly my favourite, closely followed by rock and roll, stairway, whole lotta love, in my time of dying... i fucking love led zeppelin
@@jordangrieve3636 Tangerine is a massively underrated piece and In My Time of Dying is just insane and then there's Dazed and Confused and the thing is their live performances actually blow away their studio recordings. As amazingly talented as all the members were the band was far greater than the sum of its parts, and that's saying a lot. In my opinion there's never be another band so dominant and which so much impact on the music world and I doubt I'll ever see another one in my lifetime. Absolutely unique and in almost every respect.
Back then no RU-vid, no Facebook or social media. People across the world felt the power of the mighty LED ZEPPELIN thru the radio and by spinning vinyl. Raw talent in its purest form. Greatest rock n' roll band EVER 🐐💯
One of the greatest bands ever. Individual talent was crazy. One of the best guitarists in the world. One of the best bassists in the world and one of the best drummers then add those unique vocals you get the greatness of Led Zeppelin
Stevie you just heard one of the greatest rock singers of all time.. The great Robert Plant, one of the greatest guitarists of all time ... Jimmy Page and the great John Bingham on the drums..never been a more badass band
Also why I like Stevie's reactions: he'll honestly say when he's heard a song before. Like he said in this intro. How he could've randomly come across one of their songs in life. Meanwhile you got reactors out there that keep pretending like they never heard Bohemian Rhapsody anywhere lol.
I also like how Stevie will tell you he 'heard' a song before, but that he never really 'listened to it'. Meaning he heard it, but didn't pay attention to the lyrics, and when he does it opens up a new experience of depth or understanding. Stevie has some of the most 'honest' reactions around. Either 1st time hearing something, or going back to something 'old' and simply paying attention with new understanding of writing and talent.
FACTS! "You know, I've always heard about him but I've never actually listened to any of his songs. So this'll be a new experience for me! Wish me luck, I hope I like it! Anyway, here is my first totally genuine reaction to Thriller by Michael Jackson!"
“ Willie Dixon, probably the foremost blues composer of the mid-20th Century, penned a song titled 'You Need Love', which he gave to Muddy Waters to record in 1962. Seven years later, that song's lyrics would be the inspiration for Led Zeppelin's 'Whole Lotta Love'.” Many Zep songs are built on the classic blues masters’ creations.
The use of the theremin is also so bloody pleasing, love that effect (a sonic metal pole gadget you move your hand around and near to etc to create sounds)
Also one of the most overplayed, like Freebird by Skynyrd. Led Zeppelin has way better songs than Stairway, but then again, music is subjective, so I digress.
@@CamiMack5616 To each their own. Personally I enjoy both of those songs or at least "just as good" to my ears as pretty much any other song I've heard from those 2 bands(although I do enjoy Kashmir, Achilles Last Stand, Dazed And Confused, and Sweet Home Alabama as well a lot). Both songs have really long build ups that tease you for a long time, with the payoff being an intense climax that catches my attention as a metal head. I haven't listened to a ton of songs from either band though, I'm not big into classic rock personally. I tend to enjoy classic rock songs that are closely related to metal or classical music in sound/structure.
Finally!!!! Been waiting for this dude to get some classic rock in his life. Welcome to the amazing music of Led Zeppelin!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Yes the breakdown is the "lovin"
These heavy metal, hard rock British bands are what opened the eyes, ears, and minds of American kids to ... wait for it ... THE BLUES! Led Zep built their foundation on old US Blues artists' material. They did us such a great service by electrifying the old blues tunes.
I been waiting for this!!! Zep is my favorite band and you're gonna love them stevie. They really were influential on hip hop surprisingly. John Bonham is the master of beats
🔥reaction homie. Glad to see you branching out a little. Led zeppelin is my favorite group of all time. 1. Stairway to heaven 2. Kashmir 3. The immigrant song 4. Black dog 5. Since ive been loving you 6. Rock and roll This are led zeppelin songs
Good to see this video... I am a 67 year old white boy that saw Zeppelin live in 1970 and 1974.... back when tickets were less than $10 dollars and the woman were there to play.... good time to live. I went to Page and Plant in 1995 reunion and it cost $ 135 bucks.... still worth it to see them live on stage.
1969 was a time of psychedelic music and experimental sounds....Zeppelin had a couple of songs that really delved into that.....most notably this and especially the song Dazed and Confused. Robert Plant was one of the first “Rock Gods”...in fact, he was often referred to as The Golden God because of his gorgeous mane of hair. Jimmy Page was God of guitar back then. John Bonham was and still considered one of the top five rock drummers of all time and many consider him the best. John Paul Jones did bass, keyboards, mandolin and was and still is an amazing musician. Zeppelin fame came from their albums and from their live concerts. They did not release singles. Live they often played for over three hours....and were famous for improvisations on the fly....Each member was tops in their field and together they made a MONSTROUS legend of a band. And had huge influence on hard rock. Watch them live.....You would love Black Dog from the MSG 1973 concert. Or, for sexy as hell blues...watch Since I’ve Been Loving You from the same concert. That will show you how charismatic they were.....absolutely mesmerizing onstage.
Their instrumentals were some of the first that got massive mainstream play at that time. They paved the way for more bands then I can even name! If that minute caught you off guard, please do some TOOL!!! I’d love to see that reaction!
As popular as they were they were still experimental with sounds.. In rock music there are times where the instrumentation was the highlight as they actually all played their own music. In that break down the guitarist actually uses a bow from a double bass/violin to play the electric guitar.. Its sort of a psychedelic moment to drift off with the vibe.. Its like a moment of mumble rap in a lyrical rapper song, not about the vocals as much as the vibe and feeling.. same with a lead guitar break, just close your eyes Stevie, sit back and enjoy those moments. You have to remember that bands in the 60s and people attending shows were more open to drugs like lsd and cannabis to enhance writing, performing or attending a show. Listen to The Beatles and tell me they werent experimenting with drugs while doing music... given, not all bands were into drugs etc but pretty sure Led Zepplin were.
The music is what brought us together back in the '60s and '70s. Kids from California to Maine and New York to Texas and everywhere in between listened to the same music and it became a movement that helped end the Viet Nam war and helped the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Bill become law. We did this without the Internet or even cell phones because the music was the wake up call that brought us together to march and peacefully protest for civil rights, women's rights, peace, equal employment opportunity, and all the other social issues we worked to change. I believe without the musical revolution of the '60s and '70s this country would be a lot different and worse today. I wish we had music like that now so we could come together and end the terrible divisions we are living with. Like John Lennon said, "All we are saying, is give peace a chance". "Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one"...✌️❤️
You are absolutely right about what this is about and they were INFAMOUS for it. Grab a biography of theirs next time you travel, you will not believe the shit they got up to. That minute instrumental in the middle is what was expected of them back in the day, to just jam. This is the era of Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, you had to jam. Is you watch him move while he's singing you'll be in NO doubt as to what he means by these lyrics. 😁 I loved your reaction to this Stevie, it was so pure. These boys were the original freaks. Black Dog would be an epic one for you to react to! Thanks for doing this one, it seriously made my day.
Man Big Dawg Zep has so many great songs!! Give u a few bangers, You shook me, any song from Physical Graffiti album, In my time of dying and many others!! The Goats of Classic Rock!!
If any one is wondering what the instrument is in the breakdown of this song in the middle is thats creating that crazy sound, it is a theremin, jimmy page used a sonic wave theremin for this song. One of led zeppelins greatest songs. Trust me, they are all great.
This is my favorite band of all time, low key. Physical Graffiti is a masterpiece. If you ever wanna feel something, go watch the tribute to Led Zeppelin, that the band Heart did. It's basically the female equivalent at the time, and the singer wrote one of their biggest hits about the guitarist from Zep, Jimmy Paige. (Magic Man, is the song). Shit will make you cry!
Brother, when these bands were kids there were American blues bands touring Europe. Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf all toured Europe and England inspiring bands like Led Zeppelin, Cream, Black Sabbath and later Fleetwood Mac and AC/DC. The blues were KEY in the making of Rock-n-Roll around the world.
Hey you did Zeppelin, my favorite band! Awesome. Zeppelin is still impactful to this day. They are revered as arguably the greatest rock band of all time. Their musicianship, vocals and musical genius is simply unparalleled, Inspired countless musicians and singer songwriters. And that break in the music where lead singer Robert Plant moans, represents them getting it on 😂👍
LOVE IT!!! Love that you pulled up the lyrics! Love that you caught the message of the song! Okay some I'd suggest for you to do next: Black Sabbath: War Pigs or Metallica: One. If you want something newer that I think you'd like Halestorm: Do Not Disturb or Disturbed: Indestructible Bonus song that I will always recommend for you is Living Colour: Cult of Personality
