Hi all Lancer fans,I'm Tina from Ireland,I watched this Tv show Lancer when I was a teenager I fell in love with Johnny the Frist time I saw him.He really was a very sexy guy.
Wish some of the young guest stars would get together & write a book of their experiences on Lancer.. surely some of the crew are still alive...I saw a Donna Mills interview & she was talking about how sweet James Stacy was & how good he was with horses !! Still stories to be told about Lancer !!!..They're out there...
It is nice to come to know, that Lancer fans are looking at the videos and clips still until these days. Lancer will be unforgotten. Most of all Johnny and Scott. The best brothers on screen.
I always thought Wayne Maunder's acting was a bit stiff. But I see how James Stacy (Maurice Elias) gets him to loosen up in a couple of scenes: When Murdoch and the boys are in Jelly's room checking out the cologne. Johnny's reaction when he takes a whiff of one of the bottles: "Whoo!! Boy does that stink! That'd make a skunk sit down and cry!" Stacy barely finishes his lines and you can see Wayne turn away and begin laughing because he knows what's coming! You rarely see his character that loose! Truly a credit to Stacy's acting as well as his rapport with Wayne Maunder. Fun to watch!
OOOH !! Wash your mouth out with salt ! Wayne Maunder was totally awesome in every way. I lusted after him big time as a teenager, and after finding episodes on you tube, I still do. Fair haired blue eyes and tall. Yum. I wish they had more episodes with both of them together, instead of splitting them up so much.
I agree, I wish we could have seen more episodes starring both James and Wayne. The relationship between the brothers was one of thr most interesting facets of the series. However, I think that filming shows that focused on one brother at a time was a way for them to get the episodes done more quickly: they could, ostensibly, shoot one story with Wayne and one with James in the same time period, with different directors and supporting cast, and any "supporting" cast common to the two stories (Murdoch, Jelly, Teresa) could go back and forth between the two. This would also allow for each brother to appear in small supporting scenes in an episode featuring the other brother, and - with careful location scheduling - still allow them to get both done in the same period of time. (I don't know that any Lancer episodes were ever shot simultaneously like this, but this was apparently the reason "Maverick" originally brought in Jack Kelly as Bart Maverick: they couldn't get enough one-hour shows starring James Garner alone done in time to meet the studio's schedule, so they brought in a 'brother'.) There's a great shot in the cologne scene starting at around 3:10 where Scott is reflected in a mirror, and Johnny steps in to be seen in profile at the side. They deliver their lines in this way for the next 30 seconds, and we get a good look at each, and watch them play off each other as Scott reads Jelly's girlfriend's note. Lancer did a lot of 'creative' camera angles and perspectives like this. Masterful camera work - and the stuff dreams are made of for fans of the Lancer brothers!
Scott's character was design to be restrained, an Eastern gentleman who stands when a lady enters the room and resents anyone who enters his quarters without knocking. WM played him as written, with charm and dignity. If the series has run longer we might have ben privileged to see more of the trials and anguish that made Scott who he was.
I think the night scenes were filmed in the day back then with a special filter to make it look like night. You see highlights on the side of their faces and arms and legs like the sun is out, because it is.
Just loving this opportunity to revisit a well-loved show from my teen years. I adore the Lancers and Teresa, but could never get too fond of Jelly. For that matter, I didn't cotton to Wishbone on 'Rawhide,' or the old codgers in other Westerns - Gabby Hayes, Andy Clyde, and the like. But I appreciate the talent involved in creating such memorable, colorful characters.
Yep, been binging this series for a week, I love it! Did research on it and James and Wayne. So sorry I missed this when it originally was aired! Dee, 10/10/2021 💕🇺🇸
Yes it is very sad, that they are all gone. Miss them. But they live on in the memories and in the hearts of their fans forever. Johnny Lancer, my favourite and most handsome actor, and all others now are united in heaven. Forever unforgotten.❤
Loved this episode...it was so cute...hate Jelly got a broken heart...Hate Murdoch wanted Angeline to...All those years he lived alone until he got Scott & Johnny back ..& they were geown..
Stacey who plays Johnny had trouble with the law in the mid nineties. Later he was in a serious motorcycle accident that killed his girlfriend and seriously injured him. Too bad he didn’t make more TV appearances, or star in movies. I was sorry about what I read regarding him in wikepedia.
Ya I was looking at Lancer last nite on RU-vid saw Johnny with the blue shirt he was really sweating all off his back and arm pits, and that hairy chest.
