bro you cant find any videos because its an older, sort of outdated method to do it this way. Wasa Motors sells a "Freewheel" that is about $80 or less and it is essentially a free spinning sprocket that replaces the drive sprocket for the balancing shafts. so it disables the balance shafts and youre good to go. use the same chain and no other parts required. the best mod i have ever done on this car and ive been driving with it in my car now for over 2 years with no problems whatsoever. look up on youtube "wasa motors freewheel install audi a4"
Yes you are right! There are other ways to delete the balancing shaft but you till have that big oil pump assembly, taking a large portion of the oil pan, by going this route. You giving your car an extra 1 1/2 QT of oil and a bit higher pressure as well
At Min 2:30 you need a Helicoil M7x1,0. So its no Problem with the Holes in the other Parts. But it is not standart Diameter in Europe. In Europe we use M6 and M8 normally.
So got the car back from having the pump. Only fitted pump and chain on the lower gear got to say no issues so far no oil lights and I can't tell the difference with vibration nothing really there engine is so much smoother and revs better
1) Why the swap? Benefits? 2) how about the balance shafts on original pump aren't they needed 3) is oil pan going to fit ok 4) can i do this to my 06 a3 2.0t
great video but I’m having the oil pressure low light after the conversation with the stock housing , I wanna try the oil pressure switch but I’m curious on how to get this done , my sensor has 2 pin connection and the 1.8t is 1 pin connection
Hey bud. Love the video. I did my conversion but kept the stock oil filter housing. 1) Oil light comes on and off, should I be worried about oil pressure. 2) when I start the car, cold start the pump is a bit noisy but gets quieter as time goes or when up to Temp is that normal? 3) I was told to change the oil pressure switch to .6 to 1 bar so the light goes away. Do you suggest I do that? 4) will the normal tfsi oil filter housing cause any issues?? Should i change the housing to 1.8t?
Thanks a lot this vedio is gona help me a lot coz I can't get the original oil pump in South Africa besides that - it's so expensive. Joooo 😯 thanks once again
One question, when using the 1.8T oíl pump in FSI engine why to use the oíl filter flange with the adapter plate? Or I can use the oem FSI plastic? Any diffetence? Regards
You can run the 1.8t oil pump and still use the factory filter housing, at the time I did it I was told to replace everything due to oil pressure difference but I have done both now and they both work
The stock pump is prone to failure and also has a balancer attached to it. if it breaks, it might kill your engine, and if you wanna replace it with the same, its about 3K USD where I`m at Replacing it with the 1.8T gives you a more stable platform, and you can also buy a high-flow pump ( pushes more oil and has a built in pressure regulator valve) Also, you get rid of the whole balancing assembly, so you get better performance ( not that visible on stock, but the engine isa bit more rev-happy)
@@apgarage1863 I didn't put It on cars back together collecting tomorrow. I was told by a few people you don't really need it unless your mega power going on trackdays lol I don't no tho hopefully all good
Hi I no this is a old video. My mechanic is doing this to my car changing to a 1.8t pump. Keeping my stock oil filter housing. Will the stock oil filter housing be ok for the pressure. I'm reading that the pressure is either too high or too low and I'm worried because the engine has just been rebuilt thanks man
@@apgarage1863 Thank for the fast reply bro. Yea I'm worried about the higher oil pressure in the engine I don't want it to blow lol just spent money on rebuilding it with hybrid turbo ect
Is not gonna blow! The 1.8 T oil pump is a better unit because it don’t have all the components the factory one does like balance shaft Due to less rotational mass the pump can operate nicely
@@apgarage1863 This explains why they cut the tip of where the mesh is supposed to be lol the funnel bit lol. I was thinking why the f is it cut up lol
I did also the conversion and kept the stock oil filter housing , some times at idle i get low oil press , it might be the filter oil or is cause of housing? Low oil pressure appears some times...any suggestions ?
Ask anyone, this is a downgrade, the FSI fuel pump is superior, VIS freewheel sprocket disables the balance shafts and is much easier to install than installing the 1.8t oil pump. The balance shafts are the only failure point to the FSI fuel pump. The 1.8t fuel pump requires swapping over to the 1.8t oil filter housing because the FSI oil filter housing doesn't have a pressure release valve so in colder weather you will be running dangerously high oil pressure, this requires an adapter plate and most likely throttle pipe modifications, as well as what some other people are saying which is swapping over a sensor to get rid of the oil pressure light. The 1.8 oil pump isn't even as efficient at the 2.0 pump. It's too much work for a less efficient oil pump.
