Minimum company standards are an effective tool for evaluating company-level and individual performance and serving as a means of standardizing fireground operations throughout the organization (across shifts and companies).
This drill is used to demonstrate proficiency and competency in deploying the Attack Pack utilizing the 2 ½” firefighting line as a first line for fire attack in conjunction with the attack pack.
Transitional Attack- An offensive fire attack initiated by an exterior indirect handline operation, into the fire compartment, to initiate cooling and smoke lift while transitioning into interior direct fire attack in coordination with ventilation.
Attack Pack- A shoulder load consisting of 100 feet of 1 ¾ hose bundled into a hose pack using the accordion load. The nozzle will either be a smooth bore or fog nozzle, depending on the current department expectation of nozzle choice.
The Attack Pack can be used during a transitional fire attack and may be carried by the Company Officer or Firefighter who places the pack at a designated location. The Firefighter will implement the transitional attack with a 2 ½” firefighting line then connect the Attack Pack to the 2 ½” nozzle (after removing the protective threaded cap) with the intent of a strong, initial knockdown of the fire followed by an aggressive, interior fire attack.
