Onto the Mediterranean beaches, we are using wood ants this time. We have access to two types of wood ants, rapid fire and mortar. Rapid fires are miniguns, mortars are heavy artillery. In 2.1, we play as a wood ant queen who had recently taken over and killed a black ant queen, hence the dead queen. We must survive 3 nights and survive waves of enemies invading our nest. During the day and night, there is another threat, just hiding beneath the sand... waiting to strike.
This is a newer video to show off the strategy for the campaign rebalance for the public beta that is occurring and for the future update. If you notice anything different, this is an older version of the beta.
Tips:
- During the day, beach tiger beetle larvae will spawn in certain areas in huge numbers. They will only reveal themselves when they see an opportunity to grab and instantly kill any lone ants.
- It is best to try avoid them, the food they provide after killing them isn't too good. They are pretty tanky creatures, and generally don't strike unless there's very few ants nearby. If you do manage to kill some quickly with very minimal losses, that's a boost!
- My main strategy is to make a separate group of ants and use them to station them on top of key areas and pathways to prevent attacks.
- I would recommend choosing rapid fire ants. There are tons of tanky enemies who are deadly in large numbers. Mortar also works, but rapid fire is overall better.
- Use workers as early game meat shields for your rapids. You can choose to make melee later on after night 1.
- Spam tons of ants early game. You should have some 30+ workers and about 20+ rapids by the time the first night hits.
- Collect tons of food from the lower grounds to build up your army rapidly.
- You can use either sheer numbers or upgrade your ants to win the level.
- During the spider attacks on night 2 and 3, all around your underground, place random tiles to confuse the spider ai, as they don't immediately attack your queen, but head to other chambers/tiles. You can use either food tiles, speed tiles, or ant tiles. I used worker tiles, as a way to confuse the spiders and get a few extra nest workers.
- Extra nest workers are always helpful to move around eggs faster and overall, nest job efficiency.
(Rebalance)
- By stationing workers in key areas to prevent tiger beetle larvae, you can quickly access the fish on day 2 and collect that vital 1200 food. That food will be needed to grow your army quickly to fend off the wolf spider waves. Be quick though, nearby stray ants might get the same idea and try to get that fish for themselves.
- Quickly try to clear the entire underground by the end of night 2, all that food will help you survive the next waves by helping you build up your army.
- Fighting creatures above ground is an option, however, it is not as worth it. The presence of a new large hermit crab and their reduced food values makes them less worth hunting for, same thing with the wolf spiders. You can still hunt, but overall, it's better to forage the low grounds.

What is the difference in health and attack damage between the wood ant soldier and worker because when I play I notice that the soldiers to like no damage but have a decent amount of health but then again they cost 50 food while workers cost 20 /:
