Mr King, this is not a chess question, but I'm just interested. Do you watch snooker or do you play snooker? BTW this game of Shirov reminded me of my game against the same opening, where I sacrificed a pawn and then mated my oponent.

Very instructive pawn sacrifice. I did not know it. It takes the Philidor players completely off their usual tracks.

I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only person who was reminded of Morphy’s Opera Game.

I wish someone would write a book on Shirov's attacking games. Jacob Aagaard described him as a "great navigator of chaos" so maybe there is a title in there somewhere. His Chessbase tactics DVD is superb!

OH MY- IT'S GRZEGORZ TOCZEK, I have played against him like 4 times, twice in blitz and twice in rapid. I beat him once in blitz and drew with him in rapid!!! And I'm only about 1500 national!!!!!

Fantastic game! Though I habe to say, that I - an Amateur player - for most of the game was unable to see the advantages of whites position!

Hi Daniel. Thanks very much - extremely entertaining... Toczek fought gamely. But, how did you manage to say "on fantastic form" and not "on FIRE" I was expecting it the whole video. Great game, that forest sounds a lot like Mirkwood to me - there would have to be some spiders in it too. Ozzies doing well... any chance reflecting on their win over Norway.
