Chad gives a comprehensive lesson on Resonance, showing organic chemistry students exactly how to draw resonance structures easily. He starts by reviewing what students would have learned in General Chemistry including the idea that resonance implies delocalized electrons which typically results in greater stability. He then covers numerous resonance structure examples relevant to organic chemistry including resonance with carbocations, resonance with lone pairs of electrons, resonance with radicals, and how to draw resonance structures with arrows. He also shows how to predict what the structure of the resonance hybrid should look like and how to determine which resonance structures are major or minor contributors. Finally, Chad shows the relationship between resonance and hybridization, and how to properly determine the hybridization of an atom when resonance is a factor.

Sir, you are honestly THE BIGGEST LEGEND on this platform. If you were a hedge fund manager on Wall Street, you would have THE biggest investment firm in the vicinity. I would have the majority of my net worth in your fund. You would be the Michael J. Burry during the 08-09 crash times 10! I really appreciate you making these videos for us. I have never seen anyone teach this content better than you. Good luck with your business!

You were clearly a student for much of your life so I am sure you know the feeling of thinking you will never understand something. Resonance was such an enemy to me until your channel. I am going through your entire playlist as my means of passing organic chemistry. The foundation you provide is truly the best resource I have ever had with chemistry. I think you learn the way many of us do which is why you are so great at teaching it. Your information is organized impeccably to aid understand. Thank you for your service Teacher. You are greatly appreciated.

Just came across your channel Mr. Chad and I've got to say it: what an AMAZING work you've been putting out there! What a gem! I've never been happier studying for chemistry, let alone ochem! A FORTY min video from a human with so much passion about his teaching job, who doesn't take a SEC to catch his breath and gives so many remarkable explanations along the way!!! A 40' video could literally replace the 2h lecture on a random Tuesday during winter semester, from which I left with nothing but dizziness. Thank you sir! Tried to let people know on my instagram story about this channel but couldn't find any relevant profile to tag :(

Thank you so much Chad!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. For posting your video lessons. But most importantly, for taking the time to put yourself in your students' shoes, explaining things to us SLOWLY AND REPEATEDLY to make sure we got the point CLEARLY. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I love that you mimic your student's possible reactions to some concept, AND THEN you explain WHY things work the way they work. Im a Chem graduate, but 2 years of my studies were wasted during COVID. Our professors didnt conduct online classes or made video lessons like this. Just sent us a few worksheets, our syllabus, and gave us grades. Then they got their salaries. I got high grades but i actually didnt learn much. I am now making up for it as i prepare for our Board Exam. I know i didnt deserve those high grades but I accepted them anyway because of the benefits i would get (mostly financial, like review fee discounts). ANYWAYs. You probably didnt read that long story lol but id understand. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HARDWORK.

That last point about Nitrogen hybridization is gold. If the Nitrogen has delocalized electrons, it won't hydrogen bond. It's a tricky concept that comes up in Biochem and makes for tricky questions.

Hi Parna! Not the typical way such a topic is titled, but this likely refers to nucleophilic addition to carbonyl groups and possibly similar reactions which most is commonly a 2nd semester topic. I cover it in chapter 19: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3zYqM0aUwFg.html If your chapter also includes nucleophilic acyl substitution reactions, I cover those in chapter 20.
