Back in the day, Dave Allen was a communal experience. People would gather around the telly in homes and pubs to have a good laugh. He was a great storyteller.
For the sheer brilliance and ingenuity of his sketches there was NO-ONEbetter unless you think of Benny Hill. The one where he appears to saw his leg off to get a parking spot which he then misses out on is a touch of genius
I saw Dave Allen live in Australia. I have never laughed so much in my life, my belly muscles were sore for days after. 4+ hours of pure comedy, just him sitting at a small table with his glass of whatever.
@@timrobertson9905reportedly, the whiskey Churchill drank was very much watered down. I have a capfull of it in hot milk if I am extremely cold or am ill, and think it would be very difficult to drink neat or almond neat.
These sketches were and indeed still are in a class of their own. And yes, I did think the mother would take Frankenstein's creation and not the little girl .............clever!!!
Why that was is a mystery It should have been the other way round.... I just checked and Dave himself requested that slot because he didn't want to change the format of the show to fit an earlier audience ... itv were not happy so dave left and went to the BBC... Where he got 10 mil viewers trumping the David Frost show on itv deliberately moved to go up against the D A show....
i dont know if its the camera quality andits effects but i really like the look of 1980s on tv. i dont suppose everything looked the same back then i mean the coloring the gritty scenery and overcast skies
