Go online and look for ateleirs. There are quite a few in the US, many in NYC, and a few on the west coast. Warning, they are very expensive and there is no student financial aid available as these are not recognised schools. The New York Art Students League, is an excellent atelier training, every teacher is an experienced artist, themselves, and it is MUCH less expensive and every bit as good as any modern atelier out there. Please pardon me, I'm not sure I spelled it correctly. Anyway, go look at the NYASL website, you will see what I mean.
8:50 Why don't these academics talk to some experienced painters! Turner painted the sun that way to make it brighter than the cloud about it; painting highlights as impasto dots results in a brighter highlight. Bugger all to do with Herschel.
