i buy my embody x logitech today, i think the price is high yes, but you pay 100$ a year for your health. Actually 1285 $ with 12 years guarantee. greets from germany
I got mine a couple weeks ago and was in a Secretlab Titan chair for 3 years before that. It's a night and day difference with comfort, build quality, the tilt/recline mechanism is unlike any other chair, I can't recommend it enough. I also ordered a headrest from Atlas last month but that will be a couple months out before I get it.
@rekcinol are we missing out on something here? I mean, I don't know, what I don't know, there could be a new level to relaxed gaming, but I fear it ends with sleep!
Just for the sound test alone I’ve subscribed. Thank you. I’m a pretty heavy guy, 86kg who suffers from tinnitus, rls and more. The sound will drive me absolutely insane. Lol I have an Aeron already which is silent, wanted a second chair for gaming, as opposed to my current office chair.
I bought my LE around the same time you got your first LE. I have been in love with my chair. I work from home full-time and I sit in it 12+ hours per day 7 days a week and I have never been uncomfortable at all. I did have to get my seat pan replaced because the gamery lines/indents flattened out so DWR replaced the seat pan for me. My chair doesn’t make sounds anymore after I go the chair back from DWR. I can’t remember if the sounds were still there before it was sent off to DWR but the chair is silent now for the most part. I love my chair and it’s the best chair I have ever had. I also have the gaming Sayl that my wife uses and it’s a great chair for her. Nice video!
As for the second one You got - actually it’s black and white variant, not black grey. Armrests height buttons are white as well. The wheels are variation of translucent wheels found as an upgrade to regular Embody. As for the padding is it possible that the new one has exact same padding but the older one’s just used and more conformed to You? As for the headrest warranty void - HM once stated that only damages done by headrest void the warranty. Atlas headrest will probably not do any damage tho chair structure as it is attached to a metal part of the spine.but we’ll see once there are some reviews. I’m glad You are happy with the chair! I had to buy regular black Embody because gaming editions are unavailable where I live. I was previously interested in the same black/white color option You picked. All in all, I have my regular Embody for few days and so far I love it and I can spend hours sitting in it!
Thanks for the video! This chair is on my short list, the noise being the main potential issue for me... Although recent reports seem to indicate HM may have improved things on that end?
I bought an Embody around 2 weeks ago, would probably have gone for the logitech variant if it was available here in Norway but it's not. In any case, it takes a bit to get used to the chair but I do feel the chair feeling better and better, especially while tweaking the settings.
I keep recommending people to try to find a local distributor/partner of Herman Miller in your city/town. Heck I live in a small city in Canada and we do have one. Reason to find one is 1) they can let you test any chair for a week (weeks in my case) at no cost, heck they even brought the chair to my place, 2) they do have access to better pricing, not necessarily aligned with HM online sales. Also try testing the classic Embody, not just the gaming one, they are cheaper, same warranty, similar components.
I am debating between this chair and haworth fern. Both seem to be well reviewed, the Fern has some more color options that suit me and the fern is also built in America so that may impact my decision as well.
Is it loud and distracting? If your on a Zoom call, does it get in the way? Hard to tell if it is a little background noise or not. If my chair made a lot of noise everytime I moved, I would think it would be distracting.
I dont like the "standard" bucket racing gaming chairs bc they heavily block my elbow arm movement with the flair out. The embody essentially eliminates that right?
your video is very helpful but I need to make a comment for those shopping... When I saw this video and got to the part where the mic was put on the chair for noise, I was like Whoa NFW imma buy this chair! After receiving the chair, I can say this video really exaggerates this, maybe it was the mic set up? The chair is nearly silent, it is not creaky or noisy at all, at least on initial use after a few days.
It could be because this was the original first version and it has been improved since. It could also be the way I sit. I don’t normally move around as much in the video but I wanted to make sure the noise could be heard for those that have concerns. During “normal” daily use I don’t notice the sound much.
I just got this chair I fucking love it. I'm curious though my chair is making 0 noise, did yours make noise right when you bought it or 2 years later? Thank you for your in depth review btw.
First, great video, thank you. How is the seat cushion? Just wondering if there are seat cushion issues, like pressure points or being able to feel the material underneath the cushion itself? Seems like we take buying things for our health serious a little late in life, like your chair or your mattress, so I'm going to vent a little, sorry. I bought a Haworth Fern and it's good, better than my Office Master OM5, but both have seat cushion issues. The OM5 has a support bar that would dig into my thighs, and the Fern puts pressure on my actual butt. I have sciatica issues down to my toes, so pressure points are tough for me. The Fern is weird for size tho, it feels like it wasn't built for taller people with the narrow width of seat, but it has a tall backrest. The backrest is well above my shoulders, so the headrest hits the middle of my head. Both were great for the back btw, it was just the seat cushions that I couldn't deal with.
Thanks for providing the details and your experience with the Fern. We are definitely on the same page when it comes to chairs and mattresses. Both make such a huge impact on quality of life. With that said, the seat on this chair has no hard structural points. It’s a full mesh design so it’s the best chair regarding pressure points I’ve ever used. I wish I could take a picture and post it here. In my next review I’ll make sure to go into more detail on the construction of the seat. Trying one in person is obviously the best option if you can.
Thank you for your review, really helped me. Also, congratulations on losing the weight. I'm surprised how your kids can be in their 20s though when you're barely out of your 20s yourself😀
I've been using my Embody Logitech edition (in blue and black) for almost three years now. The only issue I've encountered is a slight deformation at the front of the seat cushion where it contacts my thighs, which has molded to fit the shape of my legs perfectly. This deformation appeared roughly in the first year but has remained stable ever since. It doesn't seem like a quality issue; rather, it's as if "the chair has adapted to the user's body shape." Has anyone else experienced the same issue?
Ah so that's the reason! Because I'm a tall guy, my cushion is fully stretched out, and the stretched out part is hollow inside, so it tends to warp.@@rekcinol
Does the backrest stay upright when locked? I have a Steelcase Amia, and even with the backrest I locked, it still moves back a couple inches. It drives me crazy.
@@rekcinolI checked if there is a discount currently, I think it just ended 😭 google is still showing a discount, but when I enter the website there is no discount 😢
I am not a smart individual and worried about that back rest’s durability & comfort long term. Every review I found on RU-vid was a smaller individual in size or height having had the chair for half a year to a year. This review was essential and giving me the confidence to make an informed decision & stick with it. Thank you!!
Herman Miller, Haworth, and Steelcase chairs in this price range will last you 8-10 years easy if taken care of. A lot of people will buy re-furbished ones that have been used 1-4 years for 50% off and those are often in really good condition as well. I've owned nearly every Herman Miller, Steelcase, and just bought a Haworth Fern and found these all to be extremely well built and supported as advertised up to their decade plus warranties.
Great review - exactly they type of person I wanted to see a review from - bought it yourself, owned it more than a short time, sit in it daily, and a bigger guy. Ordering mine now!
I think most people wouldn't notice too big of a difference compared to a much cheaper office chair but if you have back pain, these much more expensive ergonomic chairs make a huge difference. I had a herniated disc from a car accident and the Herman Miller Embody made a huge difference compared to the $250 Staples office chair I had.
i pulled my back on a moving job when i was 17 lol im 30 now and every single chair i have owned has always caused back pain, now i sit on my embody gaming chair for hours and have had zero pain in the last year of owning it. worth it for me
Once you get heavier you notice even if you're not injured. I'm a 6'3" athlete and weigh around 95kg. Due to my height and weight I break chairs way, way quicker than my 55kg 5'3" partner...in fact she doesn't brake chairs at all lol. Her chair cost $300 and mine cost $700. I cannot use cheap ones because I'm just too much for the chair to handle 😂😂
I got my gaming embody a year ago during the holiday 25% off sale and it’s totally worth the investment! I work from home and also have lower back pain due to a herniated disc L5/S1. It does take a couple days to get used to learning how to sit properly, when you’re used to poor posture and trying to find a comfortable position in a cheep office chair. With the embody I don’t feel the constant need to get out of the chair. Another thing I absolutely love is that my arms are not impeded by the back of the chair. My husband has the secret labs titan evo chair and it is so uncomfortable, within 30 minutes in that chair I experience pain and numbness. I hope in 12-15 years HM is still producing the Embody cause I will be a customer for life
I just got my embody gaming chair yesterday, but I watched this video two or three weeks ago and you've convinced me that it was worth it. anybody that says that they love a product so much they bought a second one is a review I can trust.
I appreciate another guy who is roughly my size reviewing seats (unlike most of the other chair reviews out there). Thanks for the great review! #PizzaAndBeer
@@rekcinol Looking forward to it, I will say though I don't think an Aeron would make this sound. I was 225 at blizzard when I had that chair and now I am 175 and no noises ever.
I used one as well at a previous job for 4 years and don’t remember any sounds issues like this either. Some of mentioned that maybe the newer versions are better due to fabric changes but I can’t confirm. I was close to 300 pounds when I made this video. I’m assuming that is the main culprit.
I've had mine for 2 years now I think as well. The chair is incredible and well worth the money, but there are just small things I wish were better. Mainly the armrests, i wish there was a bit more movement with them. Overall would recommend it to anyone looking for an "end game" chair as this thing hopefully won't be replaced for many many years. I might look into getting the armrest they made for it but I haven't once felt like I NEEDED one while sitting on the chair.
The sound could be because of the gaming version's seat cloth/material. I have owned the standard non-gaming Embody for over 7 years and it is still pretty much silent - sit on it most of the day, every day. Also comfort was not a factor in buying it, just the unmistakeable look of it from behind.
I just ordered mine! I was using a cheap office chair from Costco for the past few years and was dealing with leg pain and back pain for about the last 8 months. I’m so excited to finally have a nice chair. Good review by the way!
I really hated this chair it creaked a lot and was really uncomfortable and bad for very long sessions I returned it and got the Aeron instead much better purchase
Felt like I was gonna fall over spending so much money at once on a chair but you're literally the same height and build as me so I super appreciate your thoughts in helping me decide if this chair would be for me. Thanks mate
I have had mine for over a year now. I did a lot of research and watched a lot of different reviews before buying. One thing to keep in mind is that a chair is very personal, you need to look for one that matches how you like to sit in a chair. That said the embody is very forgiving and allows you to sit in multiple positions even if they are not optimal. During corona I had to work from home full time (still am) and I like to play games in the evening. Sitting that long in my old chair made my bud and back hurt. It wasn't a bad chair, but nowhere near the cost of the embody. I have no issue with the noise the chair makes, I do not even really notice it. Yes, if you move around in it there is some noise. But I am not doing gymnastics while sitting in it, I tend to be in the same position so it is not really an issue. Again, this comes down to personal sitting style. The arm rest are another thing someone might not like, again for me not an issue as I do not use them. My arms rest on my desk, personal sitting style again. And like it was said in the vid, give it some time to adjust to it. I believe Herman Miller offers a 30 days no questions asked return policy.
I just bought this chair. It does have a hefty price, but way worth it. If it lasts over 10 years. I'll be very happy. Great for your back, and neck. I had a problem with my other cheap IKEA chair which was giving neck issues. This chair is way worth the price. Your back and neck are worth spending the money on.
im getting the white and green one soon because its still on sale and matches my setup/house ill reply once its in and ill say how it looks and my thoughts thanks for helping me to decide to pull the trigger!
I appreciate this video. I was doing a lot of research on this (and comparable) chairs, and so having a long term follow up review was very helpful. I decided to pull the trigger and ordered mine today.
I just wanted to say thanks for your video reviews on this. Your reviews are the reason I decided to pull the trigger on the Embody Gaming Chair. I am 5'11" 230lbs and being a larger guy, I was really glad to have your view point from a larger frame. I have had it for 1 week so far and am very happy with it. Mine makes zero noise also, so maybe they did something about that. I would say the first day I wasn't sure, because of the lumbar section in the back, but on day 2 it was non existent. I think I have been sitting poorly in chairs before and that is what my back initially took issue with. The arms I like, but if they would make them a little more adjustable from a forward backward movement, it would be ideal. I tend to bump against them and them move out of their set position. And the proximity to my desk is not adjustable, so sometimes they are ok, and sometimes not. The arms are its only con that I really have. Otherwise, super happy with my investment.
@@rekcinol Now my problem is that my chair at my actual office sucks in comparison, lol. No way my company is going to fork out for me to have another Embody, lol.
Oh my god.... The sound test makes me want to gag.... As appealing as this chair looks, Imma have to pass after that experience. Thank you because you just saved me the hassle of making a return. Now I'm off to check out the Haworth Fern and Steelcase Gesture
Thanks for the useful, practical information. It's also helpful to know your professional background to understand how important chairs are to you! This information helped me pull the trigger on one. I'm used to a more standard gaming chair along the lines of the big, firm but comfortable secret labs type of chair. I use the zero G formation in my chair for comfort, so I'm hoping the change in moving to this one can provide comfort outside this formation as well!
For what it's worth, I bought a gaming embody a few months ago, and it really doesn't make any noticeable sound. If I move around a bit, the fabric will make a rubbing sound but I think you can't really get around that.
Hey man, I saw your video and decided to take the plunge on a Logitech Embody. I bought an Aeron size B that hurt my thighs a lot in the beginning, and while I think I'm kind of getting used to it right now I think in the long run this will kill circulation in my legs (I'm 5'8 and about 210 lbs so I'm very overweight, but even when I wasn't my thighs have always been thick)... plus I can't return it anymore. Thanks for being up front with your review and keep up the great work!
I’m not sure what they were last year but I paid $1399 for my first one and $1499 for the second one. That was over 3 years ago for the first and 2 years ago for the second one.
@@rekcinol Would you get these for 1600ish on this year's black friday if you didnt have any embody chairs? Or would you just risk it and skip the warranty for about 1300 from the marketplace?
@@rekcinol Looked through Herman Millers warranty PDF and could only find 1 reference to voiding a warranty: "Any misuse, abuse, or modification to the original product voids the warranty. (I don't see atlas as a modification rather an attachment)"
I had to drive to Washington dc to test and their own felt like a hard wood floor. I got the gaming version last month and it was the best decision ever

@@rekcinol All good, if it doesn't bother you then no big deal. Hopefully, people who see your video don't think the creaking noises are on all Embody's as it's a great chair

I love the aesthetic of the chair and man it looks so comfortable. It's my dream gaming chair and I will be saving money for it to purchase it soon. I heard Herman miller does 25% of sales so I would be grabbing it for 1.3k which is not that bad....
@@warzonemoments3970 it's a hit or miss for some people it seems but the majority of reviewers and people who have owned the chair that I've seen said it's one if not the best chairs they have used and it's worth the hefty price I guess. There's a RU-vid video where some guys review like 25 of the top office chairs based on comfort or something.
I just purchased my Logitech Embody chair just a few days ago, and honestly had been him-hawing about whether or not I made a mistake. I have watched a lot of reviews from smaller, and shorter people complaining about the chair. You are the first review that I have found that won't feed me some marketing mumbo jumbo and shows an actual normal person using the chair. I am a bigger guy as well (I too enjoy pizza, tacos, etc.) and always seem to be that first filter when I would go buy a chair (supports 250+). Then that slims down your options. So, to see how the chair holds up over the years, I appreciate your review and feel comfortable now with my purchase. You just made a new subscriber out of me. Also, I too work and game from home, so to hear about feeling comfortable is key for me. Thank you again, great review.
Just got mine today, standard Herman Miller Embody the most basic version (non-gaming), full black - not a single sound from it The only thing I can hear is physical recline stopper and armrests when you pull them up/down, no other sounds of any kind It's insane
Tanks for the review. I bought the regular Sync version, it came in today! The chair is amazing. I've been playing with all the settings an found a good seating position for now. Mine is dead silent and I've done all the flexing I could manage. I've read de non gaming version is more silent over all, that's seems to be the case when I compare mine to your recording. I'm 189 cm (6.2 feet) and weigh about 90Kg (200 pounds).
Very glad to see someone heavier giving their assessment. I'm the same weight, but a bit taller. I had an Aeon char for 20-years with no sign of wear on the seat or backrest, so I know they last.
Man, every time I look up a product I’m interested in you always got me covered lol. We have the same taste in products, my setup is almost the exact same as yours minus this chair. Time for a life long upgrade though. Secret lab isn’t cutting it. Oh, and I am subscribed to your channel, been for a while now 👍.
Is it just me or basically more half of this video is just talking about the color, price, product spec and features listed on their website, other herman miller gaming chair, etc, instead of actually reviewing the product like how you feel and your 2.5 years experience with it?
Before buying it i looked at some review and all of them mentioned the amount of sound it made but i never experience any kind of sounds with it, i am although 'only' 5ft11 180lbs. Anyways great review thank you :)
I am a flight sim enthusiast, so for me it is important to lock the turning of the chair (rolling is solvable by buying wheels with locks) is that possible? Can you lock the spinning around the vertical axis?
Yeah I’ve had mine for a couple of years now, bought my GF the aeron classic. I still can’t decide which I like better. Debating selling mine and getting an aeron too
One thing everyone should be aware about the embody is it will always be in slight recline angle, so for those that like completely upright for mouse and keyboard intense gaming, go with the Aeron that has a forward tilt position.
3 minutes in and have got about 10 seconds of useful info. I honestly feel like you are a similar use case to me but you gotta get to the point or create a hook WAY sooner than 3 minutes. I feel like I gave you 10x more time to suck me into the story here than most would.
I really want to buy this chair, but that creaking is obnoxious to the point that it's a deal breaker for me. Thanks for including the sound test section, most people conveniently don't include the sound in their reviews.
My goal has always been to own one of these chairs but that noise is a major turn off for me. My current chair squeaks every now and then but this is constant noise with the slightest movement it seems. Great review though but I feel Herman miller needs to address this noise if they are going to be charging that much for a chair.
@@rekcinol For example I purchased my regular Embody with the hard floor casters, but that doesn't seem to be an option on the gaming models. The black on black mode looks like it may already have the hard floor casters whereas the blue on black model looks like it does not.
@itsathejoey here is what’s listed on the website “2.5"-diameter double wheel made of black nylon with soft polyurethane tread” and searching the FAQ I found this “Yes this chair does come with multisurface casters that work well on both carpets and hard floors”. I don’t have any issues with mine on hard floors just carpet.
I have owned the Logitech XL Embody since Jan 26 2021 and sit usually 8 hrs a day. Most comfortable chair for work and gaming, just had a problem not having a head rest. Planning to get the Atlas headrest
I recently got a herman miller aeron and apon using it the first couple of days for long hours my rear end had a sharp pain at the tailbone. Needless to say i reached out to herman miller to talk about an exchange to a embody as i feel the bottom seat cushion will be tons better then the mesh of the aeron. I dont know if youve tried an aeron but if u have what would u say between the two?
Amazing review. Yours was, in my opinion, better than those who review chairs for a living. Now I just have to wait for a proper sale (hopefully the 25% off) and I can see what all the fuss is about!
Great review, that sound test at the end was fantastic. It really help me to decide on not buying this chair even if it is a great overall but I do not like that type of sound at all (volume is ok)
