A long overdue update!
Unfortunately, things aren't going the direction I was hoping. But I'm the happiest I've been in my life :)
The bullet-points:
- Signatera & CEA bloodwork both jumped 10x in the past 4 mos
- Onco estimates I have 2 - 6 months left
- 3 options are: experimental trial of immunotherapy, old chemo again, or do nothing
- New spot on head of pancreas (biggest threat right now)
- Liver spot stable
- Lung spots growing a bit
- how cancer has made me happier
All my love and prayers to every one of you! I know I can't respond to everyone, but I feel your love, and I appreciate you more than you know! :)

God bless you my friend!!! What is the best way to find out for certain you have cancer. My pancreas quit working after covid. I now can't eat even with the enzymes and my sugar levels are always high. I basically eat 1 pack of liptons soup a day now. My eyes and face turned yellow but then went back to normal on their own. I've had scans and even a liver biopsy but can't get a diagnosis. I sleep 20 hours a day. Zero energy. I know you're fighting for your life so I apologize for my question.

My wife was diagnosed stage 4 pancreatic adenocarcinoma on August 2021. Tumor in pancreas, 5 lesions in her liver, and numerous lesions in her abdominal lining. Doctors said 6 months. Her report said palliative care and scheduled for 12 cycles of Folfirinox. She ended up doing 20. Suffered severe neuropathy. Had a PET / CT scan with no evidence of disease on June 2022. Was prescribed a targeted therapy pill Olaparib. 5 scans later is still cancer free today. Neuropathy is completely gone. She fought and she clawed her way for more time. There is always hope.

That’s wonderful news! However, she was extremely lucky. Most people with stage 4 pancreatic cancer die from it(surviving stage 4 PANCREATIC cancer is literally as likely as winning the lottery). There is always hope but sometimes it’s not to be found in the next life and not this one.

If you need someone to be with you to grieve, I’m here. You don’t know me. I’m 52. Married, two kids. Adore them. A brother I’m very close with. And a best friend, who drives me crazy most of the time.😂 I’ve endured suffering for most of my life. Got breast cancer in 2021. So the hits keep coming. But sharing grieve is difficult. So I keep it hidden away from them. Mostly to protect their hearts. You remind me of my mother when she laid me down on her bed facing her to tell me she was going to die when I was 12. She died of colon cancer. I see the strength, the hope, the love, and the fear in you that she had. My heart breaks for you. I’m not religious so I won’t send prayers😂but I can send my hope for you and my time if you ever want to scream, cry, curse…I cuss like no other😂…say things you want to get off your chest, because honey, life is unfair. It really is. But that’s ok. It is what it is. I am serious as a deer tick that if you need someone to hear you without any judgement what so ever, I’m here. Hell, I might just add gas to your fire and we will just light up everything!😂Im sure you have many people who love you who you can talk to, but if you don’t, I’m here. Just let me know. I cuss in Spanish too.😂 Love you. Keep fighting. Sending you all my love and support.❤

I get upset that doctors that give treatment, and say this is your best chance. Then it spreads and all they did made it worse. I refused major operation 19 years ago. Doctors said I would die. I got third opinion and lived to see my 8 year old grow up. I could go on and on. If I could sue MD Anderson radiologist I would. I almost died twice. Tort reform is why I can’t. Our immune system is what they should be trying to make stronger so it eats up the cancer. But they made 2000 a week for my chemo pills. And 5000 a week for radiation. They make so much money from this way. It’s a business. Period.

If someone chooses to accept that their cancer will be terminal (not necessarily referring to this man, but in general) and forgoes continued chemo and radiation, it does now mean they aren't a "fighter". That terminology, that someone needs to continue to "fight" or else they are letting cancer "win" makes me so sad. Some cancers are just too strong. We need to stop putting the onus on the severely sick person to keep "fighting". Easy to say when you aren't the one feeling so sick.

I'm an old man and my body is telling me that I'm pretty close to the end. I want to live longer, and I want to enjoy life, but I can also accept the inevitable without too much grief. Ten years ago, I would have felt anxiety and trepidation. Now I just find acceptance. I only ask that it isn't painful, that it isn't unnecessarily prolonged, and that it happens in my own bed. Not really a big ask but it would be a blessing. I know that I have lived a full long life and that I made myself happy. I truly believe that my young adulthood was the golden age of America. It will never be that good again. I'm satisfied with my legacy.

@@ReglazeRX Not all of us were on board with that. I have watched FDR's economic legacy get incrementally destroyed, piece by piece, over decades. I fought against it every step of the way. All hope was lost when Southern states rejected Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Democratic primaries in favor of identity politics. End result? The Democrats chose to fight Fox's culture war instead of fighting to stop the economic exploitation of working families. FOX is much better at culture war than Democrats are. The Democrats chose to fight the wrong political battle because they chose the wrong constituents to vet them (with the prodding of empty donor class promises). They paid the price with the election of Donald Trump. There is a reason why "woke" resonates with Republicans in such a resounding fashion. That was PRECISELY the moment when this great nation went over the cliff. Sanders was the BEST candidate of my lifetime (even better than RFK) and America passed him by. Yes family (if people have decent family of course) is a blessing. I had cancer in 2022. We prayed (sons and I). I was cut from left to right literally across my stomach to get to my liver and had lots cut out. Months of recovering. But even before that gallbladder cancer was finally found and first an operation for that, plus pancreatic procedure, ...plus colonoscopy (yikes) and endoscopy and non stop ct scans and a couple of MRIs and usual lot of blood tests. Plus C.diff infection in hospital which was dangerous and I was in isolation. Sigh. Praise the Lord clear for now. Both operations were quite fast (Only 3 months between). I wasn't worried when I got the diagnosis firstly but you do seem to really appreciate things. So now just had covid in June and now got a virus and chest infection. Still, I'm greatful as able to have gone to family wedding and also welcomed a new grandchild. Glad I know Jesus. So glad I didn't have to have chemo. (One of my sisters died from oesophagal cancer). Animals are such precious company too for anyone. Jesus is the healer and deliverer and you can be healed (unless the actual number of your days comes up I guess). The Lord says He knows the number of our days. (My father died years ago of colon cancer).

It’s easy to get a lot of carcinogenic red meat compounds (usually from cooking) in high meat diets. Also, many people forget that fiber is very important in a keto diet. Lastly, it’s a bit harder to get antioxidants, polyphenols, phytonutrients, etc. in a keto diet. I honestly don’t know how effective keto would be in combatting cancer. Since a six year old is fighting it in your family, it sounds like it’s partly genetic. Also keto is not meant to be for long term. I personally would do a mostly organic WFPB diet with some fish in it instead of the keto diet. A lot of the benefits of keto can be achieved through fasting and intermittent fasting without damaging your gut micro biome and losing all the important antioxidants. However, I do hope that keto works out for your family, as long as you realize the risks there are and how you can mitigate the risks

I am sad, I am angry, I am calm, but I also feel free. I also feel that I still have so much to give. Burning through savings, and I know I am very blessed. I just want to hug you or give you many Hi5s. Thank you for sharing your journey, I have been feeling so alone in this journey even with my support team. Again thank you. I'm sorry.

My wife just got through stage 3/4 kidney cancer. First had kidney removed and then went on 2 years of immunotherapy. She was very lucky in that her body responded to the immunotherapy very well. What’s crazy is this treatment wasn’t even available until a couple years before she was diagnosed. She wouldn’t be with us today if not for that treatment and her amazing oncologist. On a separate note, we are Christian and believe that there is a heaven. In other words, we believe there is more beyond this life not because we’ve earned it but because we’ve placed our faith in Jesus and trust in his saving work. We will be praying for you as you bravely plan out the best course of treatment/care.

Hello, I have read several encouraging notes. I wish they would let me know if they did the medicine or not. That would make me go the way I need to go. Some say no others others yes. Right now I'm say no but maybe I need to take the medicine. I have pancreatic and liver cancer. I've been blessed with some of the answers they. But just let me know if should. I think my other problem is I have no friends. I was a pastor for six years. The friends I had then have all abandoned me. The only one whose never left me is JESUS! That's the main one I suppose. But I really believe that if the people that I ministered to came around that would be a great blessing. I still seek the LORD especially when I'm hurting. I have been divorced for about 15 years. Yes I have asked God to bring her back but to no avail. I have 3 daughters but only 1 talks to me. I live in Amarillo Texas she lives in Arkansas. The other 2one lives here the other 45 miles from. I need to stop writing, thank you for listening. Love all of you and I'll keep praying for y'all ❤️. Steve Carbajal write me, thank you.

Every cancer is different, so what happened in my case, may not apply to yours. Thirty-two years ago, my cat indicated that I had cancer in my left breast. It took two years, and several physicians, to get a mammogram ordered. By then, the cancer had spread throughout my body. I totally changed my life, including moving to a new house and taking a new job, and got my affairs in order. As tumors developed, new treatments came on the market. Each new treatment suppressed the cancer long enough for a new treatment to be available. As a result, I am living a fairly normal life with stage 4 cancer. I treat each day as if it will be my last day, since that is highly possible. As you say, cancer forces us to examine our lives and see what is really important to us. When I leave this life, it will be after living life to its fullest. Not everyone can say that.

He kept pawing my left breast. Another cat discovered the tumor on my head, and yet another cat kept pawing my right chest and tumors were found in my right lung and lymph nodes. So far, the cats are batting a thousand. The cats discovered the tumors before the physicians. Cats, dogs, and rats have all shown they can detect cancer cells but not all animals will let their owners know. There is also a woman who can detect Parkinson's, from scent on clothing, very reliably.

I know an old man on the walking trail who was diagnosed years ago with non Hodgkin lymphoma. Like you he defeats cancer by depriving it of glucose. He does this by eating nutrient dense foods then walking 3-4 miles to burn off glucose that would have gone to feed cancer cells. He is a live and still walking daily. No bread, rice, white potatoes(Low carb). Physical activity is key. I would recommend a book by an author named Al Carter called, " the cancer answer"

Such a positive attitude! People hate me saying I would rather have cancer than being in a car accident and dying. With cancer you can say goodbye to your loved ones which is more deep, I was diagnosed with MS 40 years ago. In 1993 I was paralyzed and had high dose steroids. Months later participated in a drug trial. Never was paralyzed again. In 2014 had drop foot so using a cane or mini e-bikes. MS made me do everything on my bucket list. I tell people MS is a blessing because you appreciate seeing beauty nature and still walking. MS has made me less shallow and minimize possessions. When my friend criticizes me because I have not repainted my bathroom ceiling due to a stain I tell her I do not care. Enjoy your days. If you are close to your employees and work fulfills you with joy work. If not, enjoy every sunrise and sunset. You are feeling well so do it! Who cares if you take on debt to enjoy it your assets wealth or debt does not go with you when you pass. Carpe diem

I may have misunderstood you, but taking on debt intentionally, especially if you suspect you or your estate won't be able to pay it back is the same as stealing. So if one doesn't want to disobey God, never acquire debt that you cannot repay. Peace and comfort to all those (and there are many!) who are suffering.

I'm stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and I feel a lot of the same things you do. Strangely I feel a LOT better after a decades-long battle with major depression. I feel damn near happy lately. A lot of the small stuff is totally unimportant at this time. The main thing for me is to be comfortable every day and I am. I'm eating well, gained 20 lbs back of the 80 I lost and enjoying my food now. The main aggravation in life lately is bad fatigue. Thank goodness for naps. I believe in God and the path to heaven is through Jesus. My strong beliefs make me happy and not worried about dying. We're only here on earth temporarily and our true home is heaven. Whatever your beliefs, Dan, I'm praying for you and your comfort. Forgot to add: you mentioned not knowing what to do with passwords, iphone etc. IMO, you should find someone to be your end of life caretaker, someone close to you like your brother. Do a will, make a list of your pw's and debts etc. I gave my sister power of atty so she could sell my car and house for me and consolidate my finances in an easy way. Just something to think about and accomplish. Good luck, Dan!

Depression is mostly a man-made construct. It sells pills and therapy. It mostly is in ones head. Now your head space changed and you are...well, happy. For fatigued, look up and watch Dr Nathan Bryan vids. He talks about Nitirc Oxide. Breath via NOSE. NO Mouthwash- it kills NO production. No Fluoride either. Look up Oxalates with Judy and learn about them too. Cod Liver Oil and K2, Magnesium, NAC, fresh, not cooked or heated Garlic and Onions daily. Exercise. You got this!

I recently found out my mom has stage 4 cancer. They say when one person in the family has cancer, the whole family does. Everyone has to face the grief, loss, and unknown. On the flip side, I think everyone in the family also gets the benefit of the “cool thing about cancer.” You realize how precious and beautiful each moment is, especially moments with those you love. You realize what a gift each moment is.

@applebrita I have stage 4 as well. I hope you all have as much time with your mom as possible and learn every recipe, every experience she's had firsthand. I lost my mom a week before I was diagnosed. When I was diagnosed, my son took it upon himself to learn mine and my mom's recipes which he is the only one in our large family that is willing to learn. My prayers to all of you, may you all enjoy every moment, take as many pictures, and learn every song in her heart❤🙏

The cool thing about cancer that you're describing is EXACTLY what I experienced as well. I try to explain it to people but I'm not sure they always get it. There's a magic sense of presence and all of the superficial things no longer matter. Every moment and every experience just feels so magical, no matter how simple, maybe because it could be your last. At 34 I had stage 4 colon cancer and have been cancer free now for a year and a half, I hope it doesn't come back but I still feel like even now I'm preparing mentally for my death in this way, stepping away from the fear but trying to remember the presence and what really matters. I wish you the best brother! I hope you keep experiencing this magic for the rest of your life, no matter how long you're here.

You mentioned having so much left to do, and while I can't imagine how intense the meaning behind that sentiment is, I'd like to humbly share that this video helped a stranger out of a horrible panic attack today whilst stuck at work. Your kindness and bravery in sharing your journey brought out the inner strength I needed to move through that challenging space. Thank you so much - I'm sending positivity your way each morning during meditation.

I'm so sorry to hear about your prognosis. I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer back in August 2020 and I found your videos around the time I had my final surgery in 2021. I've now been in remission for just over two years. When I first watched your videos, I thought for sure you would be in the same place as me. I'm so sorry that the beast that is cancer has not let you go. My cool thing about cancer is that, for the first time in my life, I love myself. Period. Not because of how I look, what the scale says, how much money I make, how others perceive me or what I do for others but I have a genuine unconditional love for myself which has affected the way that I see and view others in my life. I don't think I can effectively explain it but I love so much!

I hope you read this whole comment. I am not saying any of this to be a dick, but literally because the end is the most important. The disease does what diseases and viruses do, and it is terrible to be a human in its way. But, going purely by statistics alone, chances are that a doctor (educated), will realize that prayers are not what he needs. Modern medicine is the reason we have life expectancies in the range that we do today. I realize that you were just trying to convey "well-wishes", as it were, but those of us who live in the U.S. also know that religion itself is a type of disease. People will refuse to vaccinate their kids, refuse medical treatment, etc.. because their preferred god will save them. When the person in question gets better, "god answered the prayers", and if the die, then it is because their god "works in mysterious ways". Completely ignoring every child that starves to death every day, why doesn't one of the gods answer the prayers of those parents? I only say this, not to be an asshole but because there have been many studies on prayer over the years (www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2006-mar-31-sci-prayer31-story.html) as an example. And they showed that intercessory prayer worked at the rate of chance. It was a coin flip. And, more importantly, if the person KNEW they were being prayed for, their condition often got worse. It can literally do more harm than good, and there is zero evidence that it does any good at all. That being said, this guy has an incredible will, and is taking this like somebody who came to terms with death a long time ago. Something that has been wonderful for terminal patients is controlled psychedelic therapy. Those have been wildly successful trials, and help people literally be okay with death. Hopefully he can find some of these trials if that ends up eating at him.
