The worlds only original flying Boeing P-26 Peashooter takes to the sky at the Planes Of Fame Airshow on May 4,2013. Starting the P-26 requires quite a physical effort on the part of one of the ground crew. This video includes the start, taxi, take off, flyby, landing. it was great to see this aircraft fly.

First flew back in 1932 quickly surpassed by newer aircraft. Generational changes occurred every 2 or 3 years. A large percentage of planes at this time were out of date around the time the planes left the factory. The P-26 was a beautiful aircraft

Man, what an ineffectual but, absolutely beautiful aircraft. I've always loved the P-26 (what I don't like, however, is the way HD video slows down the propellers ;) )

(2:53) Here you see 15 years of aviation development. The P-26, which first flew in 1932, and in the background the F-86, which first flew in 1947.

They push it in after its flight...casually passing a Sea Fury.... and as a Sabre nonchalantly taxis past in the background....that is just...magnificent!

This is one of the neatest looking aircraft from the 1930's! I think it was the last of the open cockpit fighters.

Man this was the aircraft used by a Filipino hero named Captain Villamor that shotdown two Japanese aircraft in a dogfight during WW2. 😁

It had only 600 hp and putting a 3 blade prop would make it incorrect for the aircraft. I reckon Boeing's engineers got the most they could out of the technology of the day.

it does have a limited appeal. those wheel covers are a hoot but the whole thing is a weird design for a military plane but i've always kind of liked it.
