Cruise news today. In response to Melbourne's decision to raise the port taxes to $32 per passenger from $28.50, Princess Cruises and Cunard Line have decided to skip the port in 2025. In 2025, when Royal Caribbean will introduce its second Icon class ship, Star of the Seas, it'll sail from Port Canaveral. Holland America Line and Princess have reported a record-breaking increase in bookings for the second consecutive year during Black Friday. Cruise line stocks for CCL, RCL, and NCLH.

I'm happy about this. Ports are getting spoiled and both cruise companies and the passengers that pay the port fees have to stand up and knock these ports down a peg.

Safe flight Doug! We sail out of Port Canaveral Sunday on MSC Seashore although we will be at the Port tomorrow to enjoy watching cruise ships sail out! Melbourne politicians are about to learn that their money grab was a failure!

I am so happy they are doing this ports are getting ridiculous expensive not fair for the cruise ships and the passengers pay so much and they need to lower the prices not increase the prices period everything is already expensive ❤

You know, it's about time people stop banning these ports. Need to stop banning these cruise lines too. All those fees raising. It's ridiculous. They're all making billions. But the little guy can't get a break.

Mornin' Doug! Going to be interesting to follow Melbourne and see what they do next with 2 cruise lines saying "Thanks, but no thanks". Reconsider? Soak other lines for more to make up difference? Stay the course? FYI tomorrow is cruise day! NCL out of Port Canaveral.

Carnival seemed ok with their own 10% increase in gratuities in Jan 2023, but they aren’t ok with a 12% port charge increase from Melbourne? Carnival just increased the gratuities in Apr 2022 by 5%. And the Wi-Fi charges in Jan 2023 were also increased a whopping 25%.

Can't really consider the increase in gratuities when they aren't mandatory anyway. You can reduce them to whatever you want or remove them altogether and tip cash.

We just cruised again with princess through Melbourne from Adelaide Adelaide port was very efficient we were on board within 35 minutes ,Melbourne you have to walk a long way to the road ,many people with walkers including me ,wasn’t ideal,people boarding in Melbourne had to drag their cases a long way ,one elderly lady got the case wheels stuck and fell on her face .,Start your cruises in Adelaide ,people fromPerth and Melbourne would fly there to board

Wait. The cruise industry is still in recovery so it’s not fair? But it’s fair to increase drinks, dining, tips etc? I don’t mind higher fees for ports I’d enjoy seeing unlike Nassau for example.

Hi everyone, interesting update from Disney Castaway Cay! Yesterday we had dead american Guest on Island, this is what happened: Guest was snorkeling and started to complain that he is not feeling well and started to loose consciousness. Unfortunately incompetent lifeguards needed like twenty minutes to extract poor guy from water! Island Nurse did not responsed on emergency for 10 minutes,crew was searching for her around island,eventually was found with her radio switched off?!When she arrived, together with lifeguards she putted cpr device on wrong place on patient and than they tried to transport patient back to cruise ship.On entrance on ship,lifeguard and nurse dropped patient on ground,he fell directly on head,all this happened in front of his family!
