you have to respect turtles because they have formidable strangle defence.

wouldn't the referees see this as applying pressure to the neck?
@JudoLife

Cant see that, even though it is, the intention is to turn the person and the power is applied down on the back of the neck, which is the way it bends. If receiver goes with the pressure there is no problems. If they resist the technique they need strong neck and shoulder muscles.

Pro Judo thanks for the response! wouldn't that be the same concept of pulling down on the head when applying a triangle choke, which is not a lot?

No because pulling down the head is actually more of a bone cranking action. The head has nowhere to go freely to avoid the action due to legs triangle constraint. Basically the strangle isnt working so crank the neck and see if that works. The real answer in that situation is to improve the angles of the legs and squeeze better. This is different because the neck has somewhere to move, it is not held with pressure applied to the neck. It can reasonably be argued the hold at the end of the wrestling move is a neck crank if excessive neck pressure is applied.

Is it legal for the tournaments? Looks similar to guillotine.

its an easy one, first time....but once they know, it can be hard to bend their neck.

@@shep8170 yes its be onto it quick or you cant get in. Isn't that the same with most techniques, they generally do not work if the other competitor is aware of your intentions. The correct method usually involves fooling the other person to your true intention and being very good at the moves, and have a grim determination to succeed

reg diag - you try nor or the other... If use blocks then go the other one. Without ever change your upper body chest contact. Used this in wrestling all the time to a good result.
