This was a long journey that I am glad I took. I missed so many lyrics in the version that most of us know that I am so sad it took me this long to figure them out, AND that I didn't know about the original version as well...Both were amazing in their own way and Bone Thugs showing me so much more of how intense they are as artists. Like and sub for more content and PLEASE comment more Bone Thugs or other artists to react to!!

The girls singing at the beginning of Tha Crossroads video is “Tre” of Mo Thugs. They were a group from Bone’s record label in the mid 90’s

Picture them in front of a burning barrel singing the original crossroads and you'd get a good idea of how they think of some of their harmonies.

The original version fits the vibe of the the album (E. 1999 Eternal) better than The Remix, which has a much more upbeat sound to it.

Agreed 💯 with this. Great song but the original felt more authentic to E. 1999 for sure

Much respect bro. This is hands down the best Bone Thugs-N-Harmony reaction video I've seen. I made it to the very end and I wanted more. This is exactly how i feel about Bone and these specific duo of songs. To me, one of the very best hip hop songs of all time. They'r so prevalent in the hood. Songs being played at funerals. These are anthems!

Wally was there best friend he got shot for trying to breakup a fight. With the baby taken away that was Layzie bone’s unborn child.

Tha Crossroads music video had a 1 million dollar budget. In 90s money that's tens of millions practically

Bizzy actually says, "bring it in for Wally, Eazy, C's Uncle Charlie". In reference to Wish Bone who's real name is Charles Scruggs and his Uncle Charles. I would guess that Wish was named after him.

Nah Bizzy actually did a video where he reveals the words to the verse. As fittin’ as the first part is, what he really said was “DEAD-SOuls, n-gga this for Wally”

As dope as all versions are, the OG fits more into the typical RIP rap song that was common in Gangsta rap in comparison. It was emotional, but due to how Wally lost his life, it was hard so it wasn’t as relatable, the other version on the other hand was dedicated to more people than those who had their lives cut short as a result of they environment. It was more sentimental in that regard & sonically. The instrumental was softer & more somber, it stood out IMMENSELY compared to songs wit the same subject matter that came before it, & some that came after it. That song was practically the “Dance With My Father” of rap. Both versions hit in different way, the OG DOES hit hard emotionally, but hits harder lyrically, vibe-wise, the other might not hit as hard lyrically, but it hits AT LEAST TWICE as hard emotionally

Sorry this is going to be a long one. When E. 1999 first came out, I bought it within the first week. Listening to the whole tape right away. Crossroads was my favorite song by far. It hit me deep down, and I felt their greef, and it helped me deal with my own. I would always tell my best friend, "if they would make a video for crossroads, it would shoot up their album sales." When they released the remix with the video my friend came to my house and told me that they had a crossroads video. But it was a remix. I said to him, don't tell me they fucked up the song. He said it's way different but still a good song. So we put on MTV to see it. It didn't take long and it came on. I flipped out. I hated that they completely changed the song. And I wouldn't listen to it for about two years. It's a great song, what pissed me off the most is the name. The original crossroads had friends and family I associate with it, and the remix felt too commercial to me. Till this day the remix doesn't touch me like the original. The original still brings me to tears to this day. I don't hate the remix anymore but it is one of the few songs I will skip on my play list. It is a great song I just wish they wouldn't have called it the crossroads. Especially since after it's release it took the place of crossroads on the album. We had to wait till they released the collection vol 1 to get a copy of the original again.

Honestly I totally understand this and have been there with other artists who have done the same thing. I really enjoyed the first one for being more real, like they each wrote a letter to their friend, and it felt really personal. I loved the remix for the harmonizing for sure, but I love how the lyrics added more texture to the "crossroads" theme like seeing their passed friends and family in that moment. Both amazing songs, but do wish I'd have known bout the original sooner as well.

I also bought E.1999 Eternal when it first came out and I thought the original Crossroads was far better when i heard the remix but it was overshadowed by the remixed version. Its a shame because many don't even know of the original Crossroads. However, that's changing as we see here with Jettimous doing a deep dive into Bone's discography.

Props bro on reacting to the original version of crossroads. Not too long after the remix came out, they took the original version off the album and added the remix in is place.

Nah that version’s actually the 2nd version, it’s the pre-release. Apparently Flesh was removed from A LOT of songs back in the day, TC bein’ one of ‘em, there’s even a video somewhere on here with him writin’ lyrics for the song wit the others & predictin’ it was gon’ blow up

The lyrics for Tha Crossroads are close. Bizzy starts his verse, Dead Souls, nigga this for Wally Eazy sees Uncle Charlie.... the rest is on time

Those lyrics are actually incorrect for Bizzy's verse. "I done rolled with blows like AIDS, look at them while they lay and prayed, but destiny is too deep for me to say."
