3v takes a ridiculously sharp edge with its super fine carbide structure, which is what makes it so insanely tough but also still has decent wear resistance and better edge holding than something like D2. Plus of all the tool steels it’s one of the most corrosion resistant in my experience, especially compared to stuff like M4, k390, and so on. So although it’s not the ultimate folding knife steel, most people would be just fine with it which is the case with most premium PM steels if we’re being honest.

Crane's is a great company, have bought several knives from them and still own my original exo tanto w/extremely limited (only 2 dropped) fat carbon inlays. With that being said i cannot put down my button lock VECP lol.

I agree that the choice of CPM-3V blade steel on the Exo-M is an odd choice. I don't think these knives are heavy users for most owners. More of a collectors knife given the design, handle materials and price. This is the type of knife I would keep for a long time. I think a high performance stainless steel would have been a much better choice. Why not Elmax, Vanax or Magnacut. An oxidized/discolored blade would really bother me. Hopefully the next exclusive will rectify that.

Actually the stonewash will be more likely to rust than satin. The more poished the blade is, the more resiliant it is to corosion. But either way 3v is a weird choice.

Got my drop point darkti exo m and it’s insane. Might need to get a tanto as well now.

I don't see these as usable. The rattling is very off-putting, not to mention the ridiculous price.

Like the Pena, The childish rattly thing is awful, But hey everybody has their own way of going mad!
