Two troopers from the Texas Department of Safety were taken to the hospital after they were injured during a major crash with a semi-truck in the Katy area.
Trooper did not yield upon coming up to red light. Trucker was not at fault because the the Trooper needed to yield before crossing the intersection knowing that the Trooper had the red light. Trooper should have not took upon his or her self to just speed through a red light knowing you had cars crossing over with a green light.
You MUST come to a complete stop to make sure other people/drivers aren't crossing the intersection and then continue. YOUR safety is first! That's what I do when Im going lights and sirens
Well then if you ever have an emergency don't be those type of people that complain as to why there so freaking late because you know the answer they should wait because that's what you guys want
Tunnel vision. You have to remember his mind was on the call he was going to. It happens way more than you think and you probably do it everyday and not realize it.
When the cop recklessly ran the light not slowing down like firetrucks, and ambulances do, cops disregard the public safety and care only about their own. Slow down at traffic lights cops, the rules and laws apply to you too!

You can see the Green glare on the top of the tractor trailer as it got to the light so we know the truck had a green light and cops are REQUIRED by there own SOP's to slow down before crossing any intersection even if they have the green light and this officer was going to fast and it nearly cost him his life.. Hope he is ok...
Good catch. I looked at the Google Earth street view, and it appears from the layout of the intersection, that the physical green light that was visible and changed to red, was a right-hand turn light. There are two other traffic lights to the left of it for the cross street (one for left turns, one for straight, and the other for straight/right turns). I hope the officer will be ok and learn to slow down for red lights, as it looked quite horrible
Looking again, I must also add that the view on the corner of the Mason and Merchant between the two vehicles has a lot of vegetation as well, which would obstruct any kind of visual cue of another vehicle about to run a red light. Normally, I'm not much of a fan of Amazon drivers due to experiences on the road with them in the past, but I can't put any blame on this one since the truck had the green light on Mason St, and was already in the intersection first by the time the SUV got to stop line on Merchant Way.
Troopers very lucky this trailer was empty or had a very light load by the way if swung in the air! If it was loaded with around 45k lbs of cargo those rear tandems would of just crushed that Tahoe!
@@kennardjohnson7875 Nope, that's a the right turn green at that intersection. Look at the green glow on cab and trailer as the truck goes under light.
Didn’t the truck driver see the trooper! All vehicles are supposed to pull to the right and stop for all emergency vehicles. The truck driver should be sited log book check and also checked for DUI.
@@KeithRowell-ix2qg That’s what I do for a living in Texas. I can tell you the cop will be reprimanded. I can promise you the state is not going to pay for damages of the truck, and you can bet that driver got sited. Get over it!
So why is there no readily available information about this truck crash again? We all know the answer but the DPS would be so quick to mass publicize this if it was the truckers fault.
The cop that was involved with the crash sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital by flight for life who was released the next day (nov. 1 2023) to fully recover at home. Short version: he or she survived.
Well the law breaking cop didn't have his siren on he's at fault for the crash also he didnt slow down at the light to make sure it was clear to cross so hes at fault
It would've been there fault if sirens where off and they were just speeding but it wasn't how in the world did you guys get the damn licence I mean they teach you that in the book when your studying to get your license to yield to an emergency vehicle cop/paramedics/ firetruck is there sirens and lights are on
No, watch the video again. the DPS has Green light. Watch the traffic lights of the DPS direction. There are three lights. Look like two left turn lights are Red, but the going-straight light is Green, then few seconds after the accident, it turns Yellow then Red.
This about the second crash in about a week from pursuits isnt it? They will put our lives in danger just to catch one person. And that truck didnt run the light.
First of all my heart, my thoughts, as well as my prayers, go out to this officer. As for the dirtbag woman who was being chased, just for having children in the car with her, I hope she never sees the light of day ever again.
That woman should have her children taken away from her because she didn't care about them when she ran from the police!! She was only thinking about herself!!👿👿
There's a reflection on the semi truck in the upper right corner of trailer. They had a green light. I too, thought they ran it, but watched it multiple times for confirmation.
@@PAVEL--JAKLno he wasn’t. the semi was going straight and the car in the video was turning left. obviously the car with the video is going to have a red light because the semis light is GREEN. that’s how lights work
It doesn’t work like that. Police use to be able to run the tags, learn the registered owner and charge that person. If the registered owner was not the driver at the time of the offense, it was up to them to prove otherwise. That all changed decades ago, when some wise lawyers were able to convince lawmakers that it shouldn’t be the owners responsibility. Making it that the police must stop the vehicle and prove who the operator is. So, the answer to your question is “No,” they couldn’t have let her go and arrest her tomorrow.
@@vinny06299obviously it's a case by case call. If the vehicle is stolen, sure. Pursue it. This vehicle was not stolen. HPD just changed their chase policy, and I'm willing to bet this one broke policy.

@@KeithRowell-ix2qg You need to watch the video again. Look at the traffic light on the direction of DPS. The left turn lights are Red but the going straight light is Green. Some seconds after the impact, you can see that Green light turn Yellow then Red and the Cross-traffic lights then turn Green.
She needs to get 20 years in prison, she had 4 kids in the car, rammed 2 police cars and a trooper is in critical condition and may die. How the trooper wasn't killed instantly is a miracle.
Simply sad. Anyone that drinks and drives especially with their own children in the car should have tougher sentencing. I lost a nephew 3 yrs ago due to a drunk driver. I'm definitely with MADD.
You can bet they going to try and throw the book at the truck driver ,i drive Houston every day see these clowns / pirate's run crazy after trucks, cars in out around no blinkers to signal do whatever they want all while operating that laptop and tell you it's all about safety ...
Throw the book at him? It's on two vehicles dash cameras. Trooper ran a red light, in the dept I'm in we call it busting a red light. We are still held to the law. The only difference is that we can proceed through a red light after we slow or stop and determine it can be done safely. Regardless, it still happens. An officer in a neighboring county from mine was chasing a stolen car when he busted a red light and killed a 21 year old kid on his way to his parents house. He knew better, a lot of us showed up at the accident scene and none of us could believe he did that.
looks like the cops had the green if you look at the traffic light and their direction of travel, to many foreign truck drivers that dont speak a lick of english, its a mystery how they hold a CDL.if you cant speak it, how can you read it?
when did you find out you were colorblind ? they 100% had a red light. and literally what does anything in this video have to do with foreign truck drivers? you’re def racist like you can’t actually be THIS behind .. that is honestly embarrassing. also knowing EXACTLY what you’re looking for while driving is easy. you already know the name of the road so you know exactly what to look for. it doesn’t matter if you understand the language. as long as you can understand letters and numbers you’re good. and even if you can’t there’s this awesome thing called GPS which shows you exactly where to go. idk if you’ve realized this yet but it’s 2024
Sorry to say but a lot of Americans shouldn’t have CDLs. Nor should they be allowed to drive. They are horrible on sunny days and even worse when the weather isn’t the best. Even in drizzle. Sad but true.
Do you even English? The trooper clearly ran the red light and was at fault. Without the video DPS would certainty attempt to railroad the truck driver. Thou shalt not bear false witness.
@@runswithfish3830 I guess you’re an idiot. Law clearly states that under all circumstances emergency vehicles have the right of way. Know the law before you shoot your mouth off. That truck driver was 100% at fault and I hope they take his cdl. Do you even English?
The green light you can see was for right turn only. The trucker had a green light also. Having the lights side ways instead of hanging down confused me at first.
None of you selfish people feel bad for the innocent truck driver! But of course everyone feels bad for the stupid cop that disregarded traffic safety and deliberately ignored traffic signals
