I like edamame, we can get them here in the UK. But i've never though of saucing them up. Boiled in the pod, left to go cold, then eaten from the pod as they are with just a little salt. They're a lovely bean and taste so fresh. A great snack.

Thank you. I always buy the edamame in the pods, but steam it and eat it plain. I’ll try this recipe soon.

I love edamame! We are fortunate that some restaurants serve them as appetizers here. I decided to try to grow my own so I could eat them fresh. Can't wait to harvest them! Will try your recipe when I do.

I always prefer steam frozen vegetables rather than boiling, I think boiled vegetables get to watery. With frozen edamame pods, I just steam them and then fry t’hem and season them with kosher salt. The simplier the better :)

I first encountered Edamame In Japan in 1991 served as a nibble in a small bar to accompany cold beer. The pods were fresh, and it was a great source of amusement to my escorts when I ate them pod and all. I found them delicious and a good match for the beer. I haven't been able to find the fresh pods here in Australia. I'm now going on the hunt for frozen pods to give the spiced pod recipe a go. I might try it on snow pea s too. Cheers Eric

I've never had fresh edamame before but I one day will when I visit some friends in Japan. What I tend to do is eat the beans with a sauce of garlic, ginger, onions, and a bunch of curry spices

The boiled in the pod version is a lot like the way we boil peanuts (except boiled peanuts take a lot longer to cook). You have to let them soak in the brine they cook in for a little bit so the salt gets inside the shell. I bet the taste is similar.

If you have a garden just plant soy bean sprouts from the shop and let them grow until they are big plants with green beans. Did that. Works fine.

Question: Instead of boiling why do you not steam or pressure cook the edamame?
@mikeneidlinger8857

They make this as well as green beans at good Chinese restaurants. I have also had pork fried rice with the beans.

Simply wash then cook it in microwave without adding water, salt, etc. It tastes better

I've always just eaten whole edamame as a hot dish, pull them out of the pot mix them with the seasoning until the outside is coated and then pop the whole pod into your mouth suck out the seeds, I've never squeezed the edamame out gently and eaten them neatly! I wonder it that's an American thing.

Mandy, when you say 'soy sauce' are you talking about Japanese style or Chinese light soy?

Chinese style. I know Edamame is known as a Japanese food but this is a Chinese recipe. We eat edamame a lot too =)

Is edamame another name 4 fresh snap peas? They look identical🤔does anyone know about this? Down south we used to eat peas that looked similar. Thanks, & enjoy, this recipe looks delicious ~

A question no one has yet to ask: Why not make either recipe with the pre-shelled edamame?
@SoupedUpRecipes
@SoupedUpRecipes 3 года назад
The second recipe's seasoning is a little too salty for pre-shelled edamame. You have the adjust the flavor if you are going to change.
