@@AndrewLomax80 That's all he could "manage" to spot that day. Don't obssess about our hunting. We don't "hunt" foxes with 50 riders on horseback after a fox pursued by as may hounds and then when the fox is finished by a pit terrier that has to be shot to release the fox he dug up in a den of sorts. These sportsmen have contributed more than ANYONE to conservation efforts… they are actually putting their money where their mouth is. Now if all these do-gooders on the internet actually did the same thing (10,000$-25,000$ per bear tag that hunters pay btw) then there would be less need for these hunts. Yet.. that’s not happening. You gonna personally donate 10,000-25,000$ a year to conservation? Didn’t think so.

@@topherd1011 I’m a city gal and only 5 minutes into this video, but I don’t concur with you there. Money, is highly subjective; as well as how one chooses to uses it. I’m not a fan of speaking of money publicly, but I felt like I had to reply to your comment. My husband donates $100k annually to the NRDC, The Red Cross and The Sierra Club; and I donate $20k to the Humane Society annually. So yes, people donate. Remember Larry David’s ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ episode when he’s banging on the doors, pleading to be let in, screaming ‘I’m anonymous! I’m anonymous!’? That was funny as all get out. Great stuff lads :) Also I laugh my ass off at comments people make (its always on bear videos) these people know nothing about nature, bears or hunting. They all seem to think bears of all breeds are dying off for some reason when reality in most places there are as many if not more bears around today then 100 years ago, bears will destroy areas of wildlife in large numbers the same can be said of wolves. They just go through all the food (other animals) until they are all dead or move on then forcing the bears to move out to go after them and other animals. The people who scream the most often know the least.

I lived in Alaska and know a big bear hurter. His cabin was full of big bear skins. He said the only bear killing (& other animal shootings) is for population control. So all animal life is protected and only for balance are bears killed at least in the USA. Also: Foreigners & other out of state hunters bring in a lot of money to the state of Alaska that help the people there have a decent life style. EDIT: Note - I ate good & cheaply (almost free) in Alaska.

Carcass hunting is illegal hereabouts. Never seen spotting scopes or sound baits either. "Nature" photographers use them though... Also no high grounds, only dense forests and beardogs. Though some use illegal methods, sure. Worst one was baiting with bloodied plastic, they ate it and died. While they r at that, why not use thermal scopes, long range sniper rifles, full auto rifles, helicopters, snowmobiles, maybe grenades or mortars...

Older bears get comfy with people population and start going after people. Elk population decreases. Smaller bears get killed for territory rights..should I keep going?

Why don`t you go to the bear rather than lure the bear in? That would prove your stealth and hunting and stalking skills.

Mark G , a bear can smell something up to a mile away , including you , they can over turn a 1000 pound Dumpster , that's half a ton , and when the bear did it the bear was not angry , it was searching for food , imagine if it was angry , bait with food , trick it's nose , be quiet , you trick it's ears , don't move you trick it's eyes , then shoot it in the heart , or you can let it hunt you

Kodiak bears can be potentially dangerous yet they're mostly docile creatures. There has only been one person killed by a bear on Kodiak in the past 90 years.

Interior/ mainland terms confuses me when referencing grizzlies. Is there any difference between coastal and inland Grizzlies? Do the bears mate with each other along the invisible line? How much bigger is the kodiak vs katmia Grizzlies?
@chrisgrabowski2678
@chrisgrabowski2678 3 года назад
In brief, bears that feed on salmon have a greater chance of growing larger than those that don't. Likely genetics play a part as well. Brown Bears are known to feed on Salmon. Grizzlies are bears that live inland and don't have access to salmon. Mature male grizzlies (boars) typically cannot reach the size of a mature male Brown Bear (boar). Based on what I know, they can mate with each other. As of ten years ago, it has been said that evidence exists of polar bears and grizzlies mating with each other. Speculation is that it has to do with declining ice floes for polar bears to live on. As for Kodiak bears vs Katmai grizzlies, I don't know the answer. However, I would refer to both of them as Brown Bears, not Grizzlies. They both have salmon resources available.

The bears nose is about the same size as them three guys heads, it’s head is mahoosive!!! I’d never go hunting bears even with a rifle in hand! I’m glad I live in Wales and only have cows sheep and horses that I need to “worry” about in the wild 😂

Hunters actually take great care and responsibility in their craft, not only for their own safety but for the animal's as well. It would be incredibly disheartening to any hunter if they wounded an animal and allowed it to get away and suffer. Understandably some people are personally opposed to killing other animals for food and material gains but it is an important part of life that has allowed humanity to live for thousands of years. I don't hunt but I find it to be more humane than farming animals and not allowing them to live natural lives like all living beings should be entitled to. It is also apparent that some of these bears are being hunted to control their effect on the deer population which is necessary for all nature in this habitat to continue to flourish. Hunting may seem malicious and cruel but it is just part of nature.
