People were afraid and he capitalized on that fear. Firearm sales grew exponentially as did the fear within average citizens. People who wouldn't dream of owning weapons went out and bought "personal protection". The NRA and SCCA got rich overnight. During the lockdown, Greg Abbott signed a law that classified firearm stores as "essential businesses" thus, allowing the panic buying of weapons to continue unimpeded Now that the population is saturated with firearms, access has become easier than ever. Buying a used firearm or acquiring one from the black market is practically effortless. Stealing them is just as easy Fast forward three years. Violent crimes involving a firearm are a daily, commonplace occurrence. It's not just Houston or Texas. Many of those firearms have crossed state lines. America is at war with itself and people are dying every day as a result
Getting disgusted & tired of hearing about these people that the 1st thing they do in a tragedy is grab their camera and start filming. Selfish to only think about making a $.
They will get worse since Trump's Supreme Court just lifted the band for bump stocks which turns a gun into being able to shoot 1000 bullets in 1 minute

We need major gun reform in America. No personal purchase or ownership for firearms without a valid need. No personal ownership of weapons of mass destruction.
@larrysernyk6154 - Who determines what is a "valid need"? You? If weapons of mass destruction were illegal, the fiasco that the U.S. "public education" system has become wouldn't exist. It destroys minds, creating entire generations of people who are scientifically illiterate, ignorant of history, and lack the ability to think critically. Then they vote. Many of them have no clue why the 2nd Amendment exists. Do you think the state is actual government? Wow. Just wow.
Guns that do not need to be reloaded after 3-4 shots should be illegal. I am a gun owner and hunter. No one needs more than that many shots before having to reload.
I do believe more community like church used to do, but that will not effect those non believers. Removal of guns that can fire a lot of bullets without reloading will.
If people don’t come back to God/our 1st love & his holy word, it’s going to get worse, my heart goes out to all involved and I will keep us all in my prayers.💝
Something very odd about this video. When you hear continuous shots, the last thing you will be doing is pumping gas talking calmly recording. Very strange
It is amazing that one fellow pumping gas at the pump was oblivious to all the shots and just continued to stand there. Did he not know those were methodical shots and not fireworks?

Who needs to hear what they saw when you just showed video of what they saw─yet for some reason blurred out the single bit that had any real information about the incident. News, in case you missed day one of journalism, is finding out the who, when, where, and why of an incident ─ not filling airtime with what people think or how they feel. If you boil this story down to the nuts and bolts, it's about 30 seconds worth of useful, relevant information.
This community had a mass shooting and people were killed. But in the video was even more disturbing how they stayed there pumping gas while just a few yards away people were being shot and not running away or trying to help those who were shot.

I deployed too Iraq and other parts of the Middle East during my military career. I was in a middle of mass shooting back in 1998 South Texas College, around the year 2005-ish after I came from my 1st deployment (over a year) I was middle of shooting between two men(argument)on a convenience store in Odessa,TX. The last one was in San Antonio,TX, in the middle of the street during heavy traffic time 2023.what do you think is going to happen when you allow just about everyone to own a gun with little to no training. A good guy might have gun, but tomorrow he or she might have a bad day. We humans are emotionally unstable at times. It takes great self-discipline and training to seek those emotions in check. By the way,i believe in action. Hope and prayers come too late for the dead.
I know this is no excuse for someone doing this s--t but I honestly think it is stress related. There are people out here that have a very short fuse because stress is an abundant in a lot of lives across the USA. People can say well that is just crazy stress isn't causing people do do this, I say get your head out of the sand because high levels of stress equals high levels of " I don't give a f--k." and that is why some of these people and more to come don't care. We can all sit and deny it all we want and it is easy to do so but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist or that it will just go away and stop. If you do good luck with that. Everyone says, "We are going to start ordering groceries from now on and go pick them up." Okay that may work for the grocery situation but what about elsewhere? I think these symptoms we are seeing right now are just a result of people who are stressed to the point of not caring anymore and so random acts of this stuff will increase because the stress and hopelessness is increasing. Something has to give and we the people out here, not the GOP or the billionaires have to worry they got maids and God knows what shopping for them so they don't care but us out here we have to deal everyday about everything they are creating.
all the people saying how strange it is for the people to be so calm is because stuff like this doesnt happen in this area. its not heavily populated and it is more that people were in disbelief possibly shocked at what was going on. its not chicago, or new york or texas or other big cities like that. its small town arkansas. theres like 3 thousand people that live there in that town. stuff like that doesnt happen there. they are the ones watching it happen to other places on tv never expecting it would happen to them in their town of all places. for all anybody knew it was little rock or pine bluff that get the most attention for shootings. not everybody walks around with a gun here....yet.

Prayers for the injured. The news media should not release the name of the shooter because there are people out there that want there 15 minutes of fame. Don't give it to them.

That's all the governor has to offer is her "thoughts and prayers." She shouldn't waste her or our time. If she REALLY cared, she would do something about gun control. Imagine if firearm ownership was heavily regulated in all states and if the citizens were willing to reduce their "freedom" a little to abolish illegal weapons, as it is in other highly developed countries. The US would've been as safe as the UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, etc. Children could walk and play outside in big cities without having to worry about stray bullets
