Genesis 17:1-14(Abram😊❤ and the covenant ❤of Circumsion) Genesis 17:1-8 "17 When Abram was ninety- nine( 99) years old the LORD (😊❤) appeared to Abram and said to him, " I am God Almighty😊❤; and walk before me, and be blameless, 2 that I may make my covenant😊❤ between me and you and may multiply you greatly." 3 Then Abram😊❤ fell on his face. And God(😊100%❤) said to him, 4 "Behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be the father of a multitude of nations. 5 No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham😊❤, for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations. 6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful😊❤ and I will make you into nations, and kings shall come from you. 7 And I will established my covenant😊❤ between me and you and offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting😊❤ covenant😊❤, to be God(😊100%❤) to you and to your offspring😊❤ after you."( "you"= "Abraham"😊❤ because Genesis 17:5,5 b "5 ...but your name shall be Abraham😊❤, for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations."( Genesis 17:5b ESV ). 8 And I will give to you and to your offspring after you the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting😊❤ possession and I will be their God(😊100%❤)."(Genesis 17:1-8 ESV part of Genesis 17:1-14(Abram and the covenant of Circumsion) and all parenthesis parts and symbols in Christ also for and in Christ Jesus😊1st❤ too in Christ in Jesus'name, i pray( Genesis 17:7 the phase of "... for an everlasting😊❤ convenant😊❤"( Genesis 17:7 in the middle of the verse of Genesis 17:7 ( middle verse) this phase or "... for an everlasting😊❤ convenant😊❤" the word "convenant " was mentioned so far the fourth time here in( within Genesis 17:1-8) Genesis 17:7( middle verse, first time " covenant" is in Genesis 17:2 " 2 that I may make a covenant between me and you, and may multiply you greatly."( Genesis 17:2 ESV) then 2nd time the word " convenant" is in Genesis 17:4 "4 "Behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be the father of a multitude of nations."( Genesis 17:4 ESV) and then Third time ( 3rd time ) mentioned " covenant" is in Genesis 17:7a( " convenant" 3d time) and Genesis 17:7b ( " everlasting covenant" fourth time) Genesis 17:7 "7 And I will established my covenant😊❤ between me and you and offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting😊❤ covenant😊❤, to be God(😊100%❤) to you and to your offspring😊❤ after you( Abraham😊❤)."( Genesis 17:7 ESV) Now we see OT ( Ot) covenant in Genesis, now let us turn to Luke 22:19-20 for NT(Nt)and then John 14:6. Luke 22:19-20 "19 And he( Jesus😊1st❤) took bread, and when he had give thanks😊❤( to God😊100%❤), he(Jesus😊1st❤) broke it ( the bread) and gave 😊❤ it( the bread represent Jesus' body in Christ) to them (😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤ 😊❤ ), saying, " This is my body 😊❤, which is given😊❤ to you( 😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤ 😊❤😊❤😊❤). Do this in remembrance of me( Jesus😊1st❤)." 20 And likewise the cup(" the cup" within represent Jesus'blood😊❤) after they had eaten, saying, " This cup that is poured out for you is a new covenant in my blood."( Luke 22:19-20 ESV) In Luke 22:20 " This cup" ( Matthew 26:8 "8 and Luke 22:42) and In Luke 22:20 "... new convenant in my blood"( Luke 22:20b ESV) or " blood of the covenant," in Exdous 24:8 and also Leviticus 17:1-14) indicates( shows) that Jesus'(😊1st❤) blood is sacrificial blood😊❤, sealing the new convenant. "( ESV) and in Luke 22:20 " ...Poured out"( "poured out " means or = in death) for you😊❤. " ...for you."( Luke 22 :20b ESV) " for you (Luke 22:19) make explicit the " the many" of Mark 14:24 Mark 14:24 "24 And he(Jesus😊1st❤) said to them, " This is my blood of the convenant, which is poured out for many. I've been trying for days trying to figure out what was that backdrop. Thought it was of people. Just realized its a river and trees. 🤦🏿‍♀️ But I enjoyed this teaching soooo much. Kept rewinding to make sure I got all these notes.

Thanks Pastor Skip. God knows the heart and so He chose Jehu because He knew he would have the zeal and temperament to wipe out the house of Ahab. (Ahab himself, of course, was killed by that providential arrow from that "certain man" during the battle with Syria which went into the gap in his armor.) It shows God's absolute hatred of idolatry..."Thou shalt have no other gods before Me". A compilation of Jehu's "hit list" : 1) Joram, king of Israel and Ahab's and Jezebel's son; 2) Ahaziah, king of Judah and Ahab's/Jezebel's grandson (since Athaliah was Ahaziah's mother and Ahab's/Jezebel's daughter); 3) Jezebel, Ahab's wife who winds up dog food; 4) Ahab's 70 sons (beheaded);5) all of Ahab's friends and priests in Jezreel; 6) all of Ahaziah's relatives including his brothers; 7) all of Ahab's people in Samaria; and 8) all the Baal worshipers in Israel. God says "good job" for the thorough housecleaning in 10:30, but then Jehu still didn't get rid of the golden calves in Dan and Bethel which is puzzling...but your explanation of Jehu's desire to maintain political control over the northern kingdom makes sense. Also, note that God did not seem to chastise Jehu over his "overkill" in 10:30. God bless.

Back to Genesis 17:18-21 "18 And Abraham(😊❤) said to God( 😊100%❤), " Oh that Ishamel might live before you!" 19 God(😊100%❤) said, " No, but Sarah😊❤ your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac😊❤( God named Abraham's son " Isaac😊❤") I will establish my covenant( 😊❤ ) with him( Isaac😊❤) as an everlasting covenant😊❤ for his offspring😊❤ after😊❤ him( Isaac😊❤). 20 As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I have blessed him and will make him fruitful and multiply him greatly. Jezebels father was (a or the) King of Phoenicia. His name was Ethbaal (Baal is with him). He was a king AND also high priest of Baal. Not to defend Jezebel - but in the nature versus nurture debate - can see how her father’s influence molded her into the self-centered evil Queen of the Bible. Even when God gave her incontrovertible evidence through Elijah of his existence and superiority of her made up god, she chose Baal.
