I love Buck as a company and their designs , I own 2 110's none in 420HC ( I detest this blade steel ) fun facts Buck knives were made from 440c until 1979-80 year change over then they went to H1 for one year and switched to 420HC because H1 was a flop. Buck built its reputation and standing in the market on 440c .This is why pre 1980 Bucks cost a premium .
That’s really a great story about the big man at Buck getting back to you! It just goes to show that when the rubber meets the road , we’re all human. And some of the humans are exemplary humans! We’ve all lost folks who are very important to us, and it’s nice to see someone that big and busy, take the time to reconnect! I have to add that the green 5OT is super dope!!!! That’s a great knife!!! Have a blessed week brother Bryan!!!!!👊🏻😁🙏
Nice thoughtful gift from your sub and note from CJ Buck. I was born in '47 (too 😀) and still have my Grandfathers pocket watch with knife FOB and my fathers hunting knife. They'll need a new home sometime soon but till then they'll hold a high place in the collection.
Hey Bryan, I've got that same 5OT from Schrade. I got it sometime in the late 80's or early 90's from SMKW. I always get a kick out of people describing these knives as knives their grandfathers carried. I never think of myself as being part of the senior generation, but there it is. Keep up the great videos. Peace, DD.
I found a Christmas photo of my grandfather opening those knives and I would guess that was sometime in the 80's. Ironically, being the man my grandfather was, I think he "put up the knife" and doesn't look like he carried it or if he did, he didn't carry it much. I'm grateful my grandmother passed it down to me though. Have a great weekend!
Very cool. When you think about it, I bet most people email now so, a hand written letter would stand out. Also, most would probably be complaints so, a hand written note with something positive to say would really stand out these days. Good on you for taking the time. The Old Timer was a very thoughtful gift. Have a great day!
That note is awesome! I wish I’d took off today and went to red hill cutlery to have met him. That old timer is awesome as well! I like the green handled ones. Something different! Have a great weekend brother!
@@BryansKnivesKy yeah that’s on my bucket list! Bear and sons also! Wish I could’ve went through Cases when I was up there. I got a feeling I’ll be back up there 😂.
