2 Mile Long Train With DPU In Dade City Florida & Amtrak + Tropicana Juice In Plant City Diamonds! 

2 Trains In One Fly Past Dade City Train Station In Florida! Listen To The Locomotives Working Hard! Amtrak Train Horn Salute Slams The Railroad Diamonds! Tropicana/Intermodal Train Flies Through Plant City Florida In A Hurry! These trains are in the Tampa, Florida area on CSX tracks. What is the hurry?! Lol
First, we are in Dade City, Florida at the historic train station. We see a loooonnng CSX train with a DPU working hard as it runs southbound. Check out the abandoned railroad siding next to the station. Wouldn't that be an awesome spot for a caboose? While I was there I did some rail fanning with Millenniumforce and his crew. We also went the viewing platform in Plant City.
We only got one train in Dade City so we decided to go to Plant City to get Amtrak coming and going to Tampa. Amtrak had a new Siemens Charger locomotive and and older P42 taking the train across the diamonds. We got it going in both directions. Notice the awesome train horn salute that Amtrak gave the railfans. That was pretty cool.
Just before the sun dropped behind the trees a CSX freight train came flying by. We were really hoping to get this train before it got dark and we got lucky. This is the combined Tropicana and intermodal trains. Tropicana used to run a dedicated train every day. Since it got shorter over the years it was combined with the daily intermodal train out of Tampa. This train usually passes Plant City around 6 or 7pm after Amtrak although I did film it ahead of Amtrak one evening in Lakeland, Florida when Amtrak was running late.
This video also includes a trip to Alifia River Corridor Nature Preserve - North. This nature preserve used to be a phosphate mine area. At one time it had railroad sidings and huge phosphate cleaners. I talked to an employee who was using a John Deere tractor to bush hog the trails. Alderman's Ford Conservation Park adjoins this nature preserve. We have been to that one several times to see the alligators but never knew that this park was here. There is only one small sign and a small parking area for it and I have driven by here numerous times and never saw it. The Alifia Nature Preserve is really awesome! The whole time we were there we only saw a couple of people and one employee. The trails go a long way and one trail is right next to a CSX phosphate branch. I was hoping to see a train on it but nothing went by on this day. It includes an old steel bridge and a nice flowing stream. You gotta check this place out!
