I was at the show. This room made for a dramatic contrast to the High Water Sound room with horn speakers. This Borresen room had (unsurprisingly) a vast sound stage and a vanishingly low noise floor. Every detail was there, and the dynamics were unlimited. The sum total was impressive indeed. The High Water sound moved me emotionally - the music held me entranced. And no - it wasn't colored - it was dense, textured, and completely coherent. Forget the prices for the moment - if you asked me to take one home, my own preference would be for the latter. But I could well imagine others thinking otherwise, arguing that this Borresen system is the most "accurate" they have yet heard.
A 2 million dollar system and all they play is texturally, instrumentally, vocally, and dynamically simplistic music. How in the world can you tell exactly what this system can do without hearing complex, dynamic music through it? A joke.
At shows it’s not really about the music. They’re trying to demonstrate the elements that make music. Dynamic range, clean top end and mids. Punchy bass etc. each listener will be focused on what they find important. Some people focus on how well voices are reproduced. Some listen for piano reproduction, etc. that’s why we are allowed to bring music we know well to these shows. Any manufacturer worth his salt will at some point play your recording when they’ve completed their own demos. 👍
Because they fear they would immediately be shown up for their lack of bass punch compared to a set of $1,500 Dynaudio Evoke 10's like like mine here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-at8oFv3tvJA.html
I’ve never heard a more live like sound come from Jays microphone than with him in this room. The piano sounds like a real one is in that room. I assume this system sounds breathtaking in person
Couldn’t agree more. The grandpa elevator / funeral music has been plaguing the audiophile shows forever. It’s annoying to say the least. Not a good way to get the future generation of buyers on board with this boring music. I doubt anyone actually listens to this crap.
They play what they know sounds great on that system. If they played some other music it might not show off the system as much. That is done all the time. Dealers Choice.
Unfortunately is it a matter of getting a reference recording, made in the best way, and I think you almost will never find any recording with a really great sound from any more modern or upbeat music. The system would in no way have any problem in playing whatever you want, but it does also have to sound great / fantastic. Clock radio recordings will never show off that system. :-)
Met Lars many years ago in Brazil, from his time with Nordost and Raidho, which “evolved” into his present brands. Nice fella. Huge knowledge in the area.
$2,000,000 is a Life Time of Tickets with Live Presentations at Carnegie Hall! Or a Life Time of Home Entertainment with Recorded Presentations! This is a Tough Decision Jay! 💪
How much for the time machine trips to listen to Miles, Coltrane, Brubeck, Sinatra or Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Queen, Dire Straits, ZZ Top, AC/DC ,Tina Turner, Sade, Annie Lennox, Jennifer Rush etc. You name it! When they were in their prime and rockin the stage or studio ! Take me with you if you have one, maybe the DeLorean by Dr.Emmet Brown?!? Drinks and everything else will be on me,no worries ! Till than, we are stuck with attaining the high in the fi in our homes . Cheers.
Even though I agree the price is obscene, you are comparing two different unrelated things. One is artificial playback which is VERY expensive upfront for bragging rights, convenience and enjoyment in your home and the other is to hear actual real music which nothing is even close to that in reality. Not even this system is even close to reality. Sorry just not even close.@@gordonm6128
The music pieces are too simple to properly evaluate. Most basic systems would stage a descent soundstage. An expensive systems should be able to translate a complex music exceptionally
Audio Group Denmark and their Børresen speaker line have been killing it with interesting new designs on driver and cabinet assembly. In my opinion, they are the direct Magico equivalent and competition at the most extreme, with Tidal Audio being a lovely alternative.
@@user-mk5cd8ko3w Tidal Audio GmbH, the loudspeaker and audio electronics manufacturer (not to be confused with the streaming brand Tidal HiFi) is a German brand, based in Hürth. Tidal Audio has two flagship speakers, and both are what I compare to the Magico M9 and the Børresen M6 as the alternative ultimate speakers: - Tidal Audio La Assoluta - Tidal Audio for Bugatti Royale
@@davewin1792 Why is everyone wining about digital while digital is way better then analog which sounds flat is one dimensional. Even the first digital recorded album from artist Ry Cooder said difference between day and night and sounded like they actually played it. And from 1980 all recordings are digitally recorded and not analog so even most if not all your records are digital from the source not analog. So analog is a waste of money too.
You forgot to mention the small drivers :) You obviously have never heard vinyl properly. Digital has it's place and I am thankful for what it has to offer, but vinyl will kick it's ass all day in Natural, proper human voice. @@timschutte3961
I can't see anyone having a listening room that big and if they did it would seem a very lonly place to sit and listen to music alone sorry this one is HiFi gone mad
For the $2,000,000, I would use your consulting service to help design and build the room and match the components so that everything works as a seamless system. At this of level of play, I can't afford mistakes or regrets.
A $2 million dollar audio system is insane!!! A 3 million dollar Bugatti automobile is insane!!! A $100 million dollar home is insane, as well. All these things are insanely priced only for those who cannot afford them. If I were to ever hit the California Mega Millions Lottery, guess what? My entire current $70,000 audio system would be immediately out the door and replaced by something of this nature. My fingers are still crossed.
I’m sure it a fantastic system… but it would have been really nice if you could have taken a close up video of the amps, speakers and the rest of the equipment … can’t really discern sound quality on you tube
Anyone living with that system for any length of time WILL realize it’s magnificence. Our brain need to learn/interpret what’s on “offer”. Listened through Audioquest Dragonfly and Focal clear MG phones. It has outstanding dynamics, even with this “simple” 😂 music, that’s why the voices and piano sounds so lifelike. Listened in the beginning again, when jay stands at the table, him and phone turned from the music. Noise is extremely low.
All that audio tech, and what sort of music do they choose to demo it with? TOTAL CRAP! But having watched loads of audio shows on YT I have noticed that nearly ALL manufacturers do this. WHY? It's almost like they're ashamed to give their products a real work out in public.
Am I missing the point here? I'm listening with a pair of $2500 speakers sitting 8 feet apart and I'm 8 feet away and I'm pretty sure my system, at least for what I can tell listening to this with a tablet and headphones, will sound just as well.
*❌✅ Aaviks are on a different level my friend , and can deliver Higher Current with superior accuracy an control using multiple TESLA coils , so size isn’t a problem // just cause Boulder an Grif use big box means nothing here …. Some Technology is New and better than old . That company is light years ahead of the DIGITAL GAME in Audio what goes in uncolored comes out uncolored only AMPLIFIED they are ZERO desertion Products . The only other Amplifier company near them are …. take a guess 👋😎‼️* investigate them // _They are (4) different companies that joined together as a juggernaut , an all 4 demand high price because they deliver on what they make_ but for the price the looks suck 😝 but I’m a bit biased as I own the Aavik Alfa the U series prototype // it’s a integrate 600wpc high current amp with the Darth Vader Looks )) I stream only because it’s convenient 🤪
No flying experience can equal rocketing into space so no million dollar airplane is worth it. No driving experience can equal an F1 car so no million dollar car is worth it. The law of diminishing returns is in play.
OK......Fine 2 Mil$ system.....! Well ......I must tell you ALL viewers that i am a very very very very happy man with my : Mola Mola Kula Amp , my ROCKNA Wavelight DAC/Pre , and my Audio Solutions Virtuoso S Speakers.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And of course my Tellurium Q Ultra Silver series cables ( Speakers, Interconnect, Power, USB )...!!! SO , this 2 mil$ system i leave it to you guys...!!!
You cant demonstrate Speakers properly if they are too far apart, what are they thinking? 10ft max for ANY speaker Again why are high end dealers playing SAFE music, - perhaps system flaws start showing up
"There you have it"? Have what? How does it sound with something like an orchestra or a jazz trio? The music is too pretty, too underwhelming for my taste. Ask them to crank up Thomas Strønen's, "Time is a Blind Guide," the title-track of his ECM album. Or "Driva II" from Djupet. Those cuts will fill the room out!
I can't believe no one's found a way to connect these electronics together without a massive mess of cables at the back. There must be a better way to connect different Hi-Fi components without cabling
There you have it as Jay says - whos know what it sounds like - does it matter... 50K ,1 mil - 2 mil - name your price, pretty much what they did - and people want to know why high end is dying, too funny...
