It is a cool concept though. I'm struggling to think of any other WP games that do the 'recall workers' idea. It makes an interesting tempo change late game where it's often a case of alternating turns, because the benefits that you get from your own tableau are way sexier than the shared board.

The only other one I can think of is Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar which does something like it though you don't have to pull back all your workers. I think there are some others though. But you're right, the MP games are known for this "Phaseless Workerplacement" mechanic.

Thanks! Maybe, but I need to test out stuff first. They are a lot of effort and work to record and I don't have the best room/space to record the game in progress. However I was contemplating a playthrough series for solo games/variants - it seems to be a popular request - the best way I can think of is to use a handheld cradle for my mobile phone (which keeps it steady during filming like cinematic style, i forget the name of it) in one hand to record the game and various bits and my other hand to move the pieces while my boom mic records my audio - this could work, but I need time to test the kit out and time is always scarce! But it's on the cards. If that's a success well then we can look into other games as well.

You could do it like rahdo seems to- I’ve never been sure if he actually does have Jen play the game as player 2 or not- in fact I’ve only ever seen her on camera once in all the years he has been doing his playthroughs. Hard to know if she actually does take on the role of player two or he just kids on she does. I would volunteer to be your player two but I’m several hundred miles away from you and I’m camera shy. Do any of your mates have a decent recording setup? I’ve always assumed you’ve had a formal proper camera rig. Didn’t realise you were on your phone’s camera.

I do have a proper camera on a full size tripod but only so many lenses. And also only so much space around my table. I wouldn't be able to get a good angle or any kind of overhead view I don't think. Doing it with the handheld cradle like Rahdo I feel will work better. I have a Galaxy S8 so the video footage "SHOULD" be decent.

Luke Hector ahhh. Makes sense. I don’t have a video camera and never use the facility on my mobile other than to e.g. catch a few moments of a nice sunset so don’t know how they operate really. I think, also, it’s vital you keep doing what you personally enjoy doing. One of the most annoying features of play throughs is the chorus of condemnation in the comments if a rule mis-step is made. It’s a game, people! Not neurosurgery! Mistakes happen and that’s life! But it must be soul destroying for playthroughers to spend hours on a video only to have a chorus of malcontents besmirch and floccinaucinihilipilificate the endeavour.

Tell me about it! I did used to do some old rules videos back in Season 1 when I was in the flat starting off - and I got rules wrong and some didn't mind, some slated it. These days I would be more experienced in getting the rules right though!

Thanks! As much as it sometimes gets me flack, I refuse to be anything less than up front! And the accent is Somerset - West Country part of the UK. I only wish I could get to a US convention and sit on a panel - the accent would stand out like mad!

RedEyedGhost It wasn't anything in particular, it was simply recent social media activity where some heated discussions arose from certain games I disliked. Terraforming Mars was the biggest factor among them.

Ah, okay. I haven't been on twitter for about a week, so I must have missed that.

RedEyedGhost It was actually mainly the UK Facebook games group, it regularly seems to generate those who take games way too seriously.

I've avoided Facebook like the plague, so even if I had been on Twitter it sounds like I would have missed that. I don't understand people that get so hung up on what other people like and dislike. For example, as I was skimming your overrated video again last night, there are plenty of games on it that I love (Great Western Trail is my #1 game of all time, I do really like Terraforming Mars as well but it is way too long for what it is); the first time I watched your video I had yet to play Concordia, and you kind of put me off of it, but it hit the table at game group right after JonGetsGames raved about it after he'd played it with the Salsa expansion so I thought I would give it a shot. I immediately fell in love with it, I've played it several times since, and have purchased everything for the game - expansions, boards, promos, token upgrades - and it's now in my top ten of all time. Tastes are so wildly different that looking down on somebody or actually getting angry at them for not liking exactly the games as you is straight crazy, and honestly is exact same reason politics are so screwed up. Freaking tribalism. I think social media is a big factor in making people more sensitive to tribalism as well, because we can now go online and find "friends" that have the exact same feelings and niche beliefs. That gets people used to being in their positive association echo-chamber, and then when they're in another community (real world or online) they get easily frustrated when they don't get that echo or even worse, somebody has a contrary opinion. *Gasp!*
