I have a Z1 50 inch deck, it's 3 years old and running perfectly. I've kept to the T with the maintenance schedule. This mower is awesome for my household needs. I've never run into a patch of grass or weeds it can't handle.

I highly recommend getting some solid front tires because, if you ever have to patch them, the bead is impossible to reseal.

Bought mine in 2019 for my new property. Property was a mess at the time. The ground is uneven and extremely rough. Trees...roots....branches....roots.....overgrown....roots....holes... hidden rocks. About two acres. I have beat the heck out of this thing. Twice branches have come up through the deck and knocked the drive belt off. Once I hit a 5/8" steel ground rod and stopped it dead. Now things are better. Brought in top soil to fill holes and cover roots. Gotten rid of hidden rocks. This thing has held up like a champ. Service it every spring and it's good to go. No regrets.

Fill gas to the top after each mowing and you never need to worry about running out, plus without air space it prevents condensation and water in your tank.

the handle bolt for the foot plate is underneath the seat, i believe i just took it from there and switched the bolts since they're the same size, for the cable bolt i used washers to help make up the difference in whole sizes.

I don't know much about John Deere since I haven't tried one but so far pretty good with this cub cadet. I actually just started it up for the first time in months and surprisingly it started right up with no problems and i mowed the first time this season with it last week with no issues. My 2022 ZT1 54 is in the shop for the second time this year. The left hydro has been leaking. It was repaired in Feb. This time they're replacing the hydro but I'm without my mower for 3-5 weeks. I'll pass on any MTD product next time.
@fishbeeproductreviews
@fishbeeproductreviews 14 дней назад
Oh wow. From what I've seen all the competitors use the same EZT 2200 hydros in this price range.
@mattvmani
@mattvmani 2 дня назад
@@fishbeeproductreviews I can second this for residential zero turns. I ended up with this mower because after researching all the brands in the sub $4000 space you are getting a set of Hydrogear EZT transmissions even from John Deere or even Husqvarna. If you want the beefier hydro gear or Tuff Torque you can go with a Scag but again, they start at $5,800. In any event, I'm sorry for the trouble you're having. That absolutely sucks and I'd be pissed if that happened or ends up happening to me. If you want a better transmission, you'll have to give up the speed and go with a tractor. They can keep the price down since only one transmission is required so for instance you can get a beefier Tuff Torque transmission. That puts your riding mowers closer to $2.8- $3k. So you unfortunately have to pick do you want speed with weaker transmissions or strength with a slower less maneuverable mower.

I just got this baby from HD, it seems to be the best of all the worlds, for less money and with more features it beats the John Deere z300 series hands down. Same engine, same transmission, better deck, better lights, and easier accessibility to the components although negligible. The only downside is, the one I bought "new" was a 2022 that had some minors scuffs, scratches, tiny paint chipped off. Stuff that will inevitably happen anyway. I did want to ask a few questions as this is my first zero turn. 1. Is it normal to get whine from the transmissions as you turn left/right? It seems like it is base online but was curious. 2. Does your deck rise somewhat abruptly as the PTO clutch engages the belt for the blades? 3. And while running, does your belt shimmy on one side of the motor causing somewhat of a vibration? Nothing really seems to be wrong, I have just never seen one in action before to have a clue. My old riding mower was a tractor style so it's a bit different. Thank you! Glad to see you settled on the same thing for the same reason!
@fishbeeproductreviews
@fishbeeproductreviews День назад
2022? oh wow, i'm not sure if i would of accepted that if its supposed to be 2024 model. The transmission whine is common from what i've seen and i don't notice it as much on mine now. I've heard our neighbors commercial zero turn whine noise from quite a distance but not sure if that means something or not. I'll have to do a follow up video to mine hopefully soon so i'll try to look for those two things.

@@fishbeeproductreviews thank you for the info! That makes me feel better. I just mowed for the first time tonight and it took half the time as they say. So much fun. Yeah, I’m kind of unsure if it matters as there has not been a change in the model itself. What you buy right now is the same mower but, just newer components. The mower was not used, the battery disconnected and no gas. Maybe I’ll inquire with them what the expectation should be.

I'm looking at the 2024 42". I got a Gravely 2023 zt x 42" and I absolutely HATE it. It's awful. It blows grass/debris out all of the sides of the deck and especially throws it out the front!! which goes of course right into face/eyes. It's a POS!! I'm going to sell it and get a different one. Thanks for the review

@@fishbeeproductreviews The new 2024 Cub zt 1 42 Fab deck w/ hour meter and Kawasaki engine was delivered yesterday. It's already better than the 2023 Gravely. It's not digging grass at most corners like the Gravely did. It doesn't spew debris out all side of the deck and out the front of the deck hardly which is an immediate improvement!! The gravely had good quality parts but what good is that if it doesn't do a good job at nice mowing?! Glad to have sold it!! I'm going to adjust the arm-bars on this new Cub but i can't get the wrench that's snapped in out.. I don't wanna over-force it and snap the plastic it's in.
@fishbeeproductreviews
@fishbeeproductreviews Месяц назад
@@malcolmh5736 nice! yeah you have to really pry that wrench out of there, i would switch the bolt on top of the deck/access panel with a plastic wing nut that was underneath the seat on mine (same size) then you don't need the wrench

@@fishbeeproductreviews Great suggestion, thanks. The issue I have now is the right side is slower than the left, despite adjusting the bolt. Looking at the Home Depot description for the ZT1 46inch model that it says its deck is a AeroForce fabricated. I'm hearing fabricated deck is the way to go. Avoid the stamped metal decks.
@fishbeeproductreviews
@fishbeeproductreviews 3 месяца назад
Yeah i noticed they're adding those on the smaller decks now. However, I had a stamped deck on my older 2011 cub cadet with no issues after 12 years other than one part breaking and needing welded that cost about $50
@garydixon1674

Fabricated deck is way to go. Stamped rust easy and any damage throws them out of wack. Only about $200 difference if you plan on owning long term

I own a 2021 Cub Cadet ZT1 50 with a Kawasaki FR691V engine. I've had to replace all 3 spindles on the deck. A month ago the starter ate itself by shattering an internal magnet and shorting to ground. After that a spindle nut backed completely off by itself and dropped the spindle with blade attached to the ground. Now the engine will not run right. I have to choke it to keep it from dying and then after 10 mins it sputters and dies. I have replaced: Carb, fuel hoses, fuel filter, air filter, removed and cleaned the fuel tank, new fuel pump and fresh gas. Still sputtering and dying after all of that? A 3yr old lawn mower should not be doing this!!!!
@fishbeeproductreviews
@fishbeeproductreviews 9 дней назад

@@fishbeeproductreviewsI have the ZT2 54 since 2020. Great zero turn. I was washing the deck with a low powered electric power washer. I removed the spindles and checked the bearings this year and they were all ok. I did have some rust in the spindle barrels and on the outer parts of the bearings though. I regreased all the sealed bearings and this winter I will remove all bearings, clean/remove all old grease and then add new. Use a leaf blower to clean the deck and you should be fine.

Cheaper doesn’t mean “Entry level”
@fishbeeproductreviews
@fishbeeproductreviews 18 дней назад
Entry-level is used to describe low-cost versions of products that are suitable for people who have no previous experience or knowledge of them. Companies are offering new, entry-level models in hopes of attracting more buyers. (Like this cheaper Cub Cadet)
