2 Newport News firefighters terminated after delay of aid in fatal incident 

So, I'm a retired firefighter from a very busy east coast city. Halfway through my career, the administration says that we are going to start running medical calls. They gave us all a 3-inch-thick textbook, 4 days of classroom lessons and a written/multiple guess test. When 75% of the dept went through the EMS course, they let us loose on the streets. Honestly, it took a year or two of going on EMS calls, to actually get an idea of how to put the lessons that were crammed down our throats in 4 days, to practical use. Think of it like this... I spent 3 months in the fire academy to train for the job, but only 4 days in EMS training... How did they expect everyone to be proficient on medicals calls with that little bit of training??? Not making excuses for these firefighters, but we are all human and make mistakes. And anyone that wants to be a firefighter is more than likely someone that wants to serve & help the community and the people that live there!

In other words the firefight got there and the guy brains was hanging out. And they assume he was dead. I understand it from their Perspective.

Now his family will sue and get millions my daddies always told me if u gon do dirt do it alone u ain't got to worry bout nobody throwing u under the bus

This is Racism and indifference at the face! For a medic not to administer any type of aide when a person is shot and confirm if a person is dead or life and then transport them immediately for the sake of preserving life is a standard procedure. Anything else is a complete and deliberate dereliction of duty. And because it almost always happens when black people are involved, I would definitely call this a racially motivated response on the part of paramedics who are suppose to be there to Help people when they are sick, hurt, and in desperate need of medical help. What else Can you say it is???
