One of my most challenging trips yet! This one was a pretty constant battering from gale force winds and rain. There was a lot of backtracking to avoid bogs and progress was slow. But also, it was so wildly beautiful and felt so remote. For the first time ever, I didn’t see a single person since leaving my car 💚
Despite its difficulties I loved this trip! It felt raw and humbling. However, I would not recommend this tent (Lanshan 2) in these kinds of conditions, particularly in cold weather.
There is a separate video about the tent, which was also filmed on this trip: • Testing Budget Lightwe...
Thanks for watching! 😊 Much love, Claire 🌿🐻

Proper strong winds and plenty of rain and boggy terrain - spectators (Folk who've never actually DONE what you did.) won't understand how much effort those conditions require for even a half day hike, let alone three days and two nights. Your ability to be upbeat under such conditions, to laugh at yourself and the hardships and to get useable footage as well - you are a remarkable human being. If I had kids I'd want them all to be just like you.

agreed , i can bang out a 20+ mile hike with very little effort most days if i need to but there have been times on Dartmoor that 4 or 5 miles have utterly smashed me to pieces! wet grassy mounds are ankle killers and sap your energy , it gets into your hips your ankles and more importantly your brain!

Your channel is better than most for a simple reason…..you focus more on getting out. I’m so tired of all the kit review channels on here where they are obsessed with the lightest or newest kit. Encouraging people to get out with what gear they have is a good thing. Second-hand kit, anything just go with what you have but know the limits of what you have. Thankyou Claire for your great channel it’s encouraging to watch and a very positive goal for us all to go out and enjoy the outdoors. Greetings from a icy cold Finland!

I agree Finn, getting out iis key. Kit is something you need to research and get what works for you though kit reviews doe help with putting your own pack together
@WildBeare
@WildBeare Год назад
Aw thanks Finn :D I agree the main thing is just getting out! That being said, kit does have to be fit for purpose of course, safe enough to be out in whatever conditions you end up in. I do like to keep trying to improve my kit but it's a gradual thing, it's taken 5 years to get to where I am with it and I could never have done winter camping in the mountains with the kit that I started out with.. it would have been extremely dangerous. Thanks so much for the kind words and for watching my lil viddy :) best wishes from UK 🌿Claire 🐻

I love the ending quotes "As we all know life isn't going to be perfect all the time (our jobs health and relationships can't be perfect all the time, people aren't going to be perfect all the time and the weather well that certainly isn't going to be perfect all the time) but maybe this imperfection in itself is perfection because everything runs in Cycles and maybe if we can learn not just to tolerate those Cycles but to be filled with gratitude just for the opportunity to be here and to experience them fully. I mean I'm still learning this but if we can think that way then there's not a lot that can ruin our day."

Dealing with high winds can be unbelivably challenging and at times scary! Me and my entire team of sled dogs once got blown sideways about 15 meters on a wide open flat in Northern Onatrio. I tend to stick to campsites with more wind cover these days! Perserverance is key when dealing with weather! A positive attitude goes along way to drive that perseverance! An old hunting guide once told me,,,, complaining about the weather doesn't change the weather....it just changes your experience in that weather! Love your videos, always look forward to them!

It's just like you said about everything running in cycles there at the end of the video. Anyhow, I hope that the rest of your week is amazing my friend :) Stay wild (and perfect).... -John

Another brilliant adventure, Claire! You have such beautiful countryside to hike and camp, and you are enjoying it to the full, well done!! There's nothing like being alone in the countryside with nature, and the stars on a clear night are fantastic. I grew up in the country where there was a clear view of the sky through pristine air and a huge vista of stars. I live in the city now and miss it like mad. The people that love the city have never seen the real world I'm afraid... Thanks for taking us along, that was epic!

What I love about your videos as a man is that you make genuine videos without looking for that female validation like so many other videos where the ladies are the host do. Knowing that you are attractive and having the confidence in yourself to not need to let that type of behavior creep into your videos is awesome. A breath of fresh air. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing. Regards from New Zealand

Much of your kit has relevance to the carp fishing community. We can learn a lot from the trekking/camping community. Thank you for your insights and for sharing your passion for freedom in the countryside.

Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful!!! Your videos just keep getting better and better, Claire! Such beautiful Autumn colors, and the mountainscapes and cloudscapes were wonderful---and that time-lapse sunset was drop dead gorgeous!!! I loved how you did the live-footage insets as you explained your trek on the map; that gave it soooo much more meaning and understanding (dang, you're good)! It is always so great to see you smiling, with pure Joy as you experience everything Nature throws at you and blesses you with. It is a real privilege to be able to enjoy these experiences with you, Claire. I loved the wisdom you imparted to us at the end of your video. It gave me goosebumps (again). You are a special and wonderful Spirit, Claire. Thanks for all you do and all you are. 😊❤✌

Ahhh man that was brilliant. Thank you Claire that was great viewing. I love Snowdonia and the fact that you can just vanish into the hills on your own and be totally alone. There's no reason that with the right equipment and a bit of common sense that anyone can do it. Love it.

i liked your closing statement about cycles and living within them and being grateful, not tolerant. I don't talk to many people these days, but that's a thought i've had on my own. Wasn't sure if that was reasonable or just some madness i came up with. Hearing it from someone else, it in fact sounds entirely reasonable and it's nice to know there are others who think similarly. Thank you for that.

Fantastic, loved the weather, the scenery, and your positive perspective. Completely agree those elements of uncertainty and seeming imperfection, little extra surprises and challenges, are what turns a pleasant journey into a great adventure. Such a contrast with your beautiful and fresh face in that hardcore autumn land. Amazing. And your smile all the time, even in rain, and the wind just wrecking your tent. But that dramatic sunset over the lake. You were right about avoiding those bogs, they can be very dangerous, especially with a heavy backpack. I almost disapeard in a hole like that. After I just have very big respect of those wetlands. The quality of your filmwork is so good. Thank you. Wish you the best of trips.

A great weekend hike. The weather has certainly turned in the UK and I've had those boggy hikes in the Peaks. My hiking buddy went in past her knee and only falling forward stopped her from going down further. I've pushed my treking pole into a bottomless bog too so I know the feeling. But the take from this is your sheer grit and determination to succeed. I'm the nutter who stands on the edge too. I'm glad you have an Inreach. After 4 years working at the Rescue Coordination Centre outside Edinburgh (responsible from all rescue Coordination from 52:30N and above) 79-83 we would have loved this technology to help fallen or lost hikers. It's great that you take these precautions seriously. Well done Claire, great weekend and beautiful night sky as always. That to me is the icing on the cake.

I bet later in your life you will look back with awe and think did I do that. You have and are making memories to look back on, be safe and tread careful. I understand tent weight is a lot to carry is why you take a light weight one, you are a remarkable person.
@pierrenilsson6189
@pierrenilsson6189 Год назад
A good example of the trade off you'll have to do when deciding which tent to use. Lightweight will be less sturdy in hard weather but easier to carry. A sturdy tent will be heavier and most likely more expensive. I really enjoyed watching this and I love that you did not complain for a second. That's quite unusual when I look at other camping videos on youtube. Most go on about "survival situations" and you just let out screams of joy. Very refreshing.

Hi Claire, tis Irish Bob saying hello.😇🤗😎🍀 I must say: you're a tenacious, and spirited Lass. Love the fact that you make the most out of every occasion. Whether things go smoothly, or when it feels like the devil is nipping at your heels. The fact that your end commentary echoes that you face life and circumstance head on is commendable.. One cannot control our outdoor environment. One can only prepare for possible scenarios that may occur. You are always fine tuning your gear choices and adapt well when the situation is needed.. Love the evening sky shots and how colorful your trip had been. Respect of your environment and situation are lessons to learn from , and evolve. Stay🏋️Stay🩺Stay Real, and Stay True. Irish Bob is such a fan of yours Lass😇🤗😎🍀 Notice your subscriber numbers are increasing which, is awesome and deserved.
