Today we install a 2" rough country lift kit on this 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ. It's an easy install and comes with all the hardware, parts and directions needed for install.
I've been watching a ton of WJ vids lately. Seen most of them 5 times over. I've had '99 for 18 years and I'm starting to build it this year. It's nice to see a fresh new WJ video. Good job.
@albertfs4754 haven't made it that far yet. I'll probably just do Fat Bob's 2.5". I had to rebuild the engine and trans coincidentally/luckily 1000 miles apart.
does the castor angle need any adjustment , how does it drive, i see these getting death wobble when lifted 4 inch but this 2 inch lift looks pretty good .
Great video, thanks for posting! I just purchased the same Rough Country 2" Lift Kit for my '04 Grand Cherokee. Can you please confirm that the rubber rear lower coil spring insulator is not required when installing this Rough Country Lift Kit?
Use the factory shock cross pins on the front shocks. My wj didn't make it out of the drive before breaking. 265/75/16 load range E tires rubbed in reverse on incline, but not going forward.
This Jeep looks sweet!!! When you show the Jeep at the end is this with stock tire size? I really like the look of it with that wheel and tire set up! Thanks for sharing!
"Hi, I wanted to ask if raising the height of your vehicle by 2 inches has affected its handling on the freeway, especially when taking turns. I think the difference might not be significant, but the last time I raised the height of my vehicle decades ago, it also had larger tires which made the ride louder, like on a dirt bike. So, I'm looking for a compromise between the height and the noise. Also, did you notice any changes in mileage after raising the height? Your instructions make it look plausible for someone like me to do it myself. Thank you, and take care!"
It still drives pretty well with the lift due to it being such a small lift. Mileage is about the same to my knowledge. We installed the lift for a family member so I haven't really driven it since.
I was thinking about paring these wi to the roughy country 4in long arm to make around 6 in in lift because 3000$ is to much for Clayton’s 6 in lift , if I do this is there anything I should know
I remember doing my xjs. Wow those very rear bolts on the leaf springs were such a bitch to get off. Used a breaker bar the entire time backing them off. Couldn’t get an impact on em. Smh
How do you like this kit after being in use for awhile? Handling and ride quality still there? Getting any noise issues that I have read about? Considering this kit myself; Thanks for any info you can provide...
been running it for 2.5 years now with 245/75/16 setup. So far so good. Front driveshaft doesn't like the lift so I removed it as I mostly drive on normal roads.
@@SenzuBeaner yes. The WJ is rear wheel drive and only uses the front when needed. So far I've been driving around without the front driveshaft for 1.5 years and zero issues.
Worst thing you can do is lift springs and lift pucks, in order to do a correct lift is to do extended links and arms and just lift coils then use those shovk absorbers
My 03 WJ with Old Man EMU springs and dampers (not long arm), rides beautifully on and off road, and I've never been hung up or had issues going where I need to go. Okay I won't be doing crazy rock crawling but that suits me
@@jackstandnation now ya did it lol yeah recently did on mine it come with the 19mm self taper bolt to bolt up the front spacer is it not knocking or making noise not being secured down?
These kits are a waste of time and money....first of all if you put this kit on a older jeep your not getting a 2 inch lift cause the stock springs are shot so you need new ones. Save up some cash and buy a 4 inch lift kit that way it's a whole new suspension at the height that looks badass 🤘
@@Raid-qx4jv I had 2” lift with spacers on my 89 Cherokee with 31” wheels. I went everywhere that the guys with the expensive 30k plus equipment went. They all thought it was unreal and never understood how my rig made it in and out. Bought the jeep from my best friend for 80 bucks because he couldn’t get the truck started and instead bought a 2005 TJ with 35” wheels and the original dana 30 and 35 front and rear. My 2” spacer lift I already had, the wheels were given to me, welded up the rear differential, and kicked it off to the utmost. The cheapest most bestest fun I ever had 😂
