general rule is that expenses are put on the debit side of the profit & loss account while gains & income are put on the credit side of the profit and loss account. bills receivable are gains. however, i'm not sure how bills payable are treated

Add to capital in balance sheet. 5% of capital will be added. It's an adjustment. So, it will also be mentioned under the debit side of PandL acc because it's an indirect expense.
