I am a 64 yr old woman learning to ride for the first time . The trot has been challenging for me and I can’t tell you how grateful I am for your expertise and suggestions . Just when I’m getting a bit frustrated , you remind me I can do this . THANK YOU ❤️

I’m just learning trot too, it’s a lot to juggle. I usually am pretty decent at bodily awareness but, transitions throw me a curveball.

You hang in there and don't overthink it. You'll do fine.

Did you install a camera in the yard I'm riding in? Lately you seem to always be putting out videos exactly about what I'm trying to learn at the moment. Thank you so much, fantastic material, you've helped me a lot so far!

That is the first time I have seen that taught, other than my own Enlightened Equitation riding teachers and myself! My old mentor, Capt Desi Lorent taught us that many years ago and I have used it ever since. It stabilises the lower back but still allows the pelvis to absorb the movement. Nice to see it being taught!!

This makes so much sense. I'm just trying to get my sitting trot right before I move to canter, and I was quite stunned when my coach told me to tilt my pelvis forward all the time, but it felt so uncomfortable. When we took the stirrups off, it made so much sense afterwards, as to how my body had to be when trotting. Thank you thank you thank you!

Very helpful, thanks. Interesting to see how much more relaxed your mare is when you demonstrate the correct way to ride the seated trot. Her neck stretches down, and her gait changes. 🌺🌸🌺

Great ideas on sitting trot! I’ve been really stiff and really was never taught the mechanics! Thanks so very much!

my mother has an older Welsh cob, I've always been super comfortable riding him in a sitting trot, he just feels like a big a big sofa. my lease horse is a lot taller and has way longer legs (he's a dutch warmblood)and i absolutley cannot sit his trot (its also my first time riding in an english saddle, but i dont think that changes a lot)so i usually post in his trot however I'm still not super comfortable with it. this video really helped improve my sitting trot on him :]

Thank you for posting this! It has been very helpful to me! I don’t have funds to pay for a instructor but I do have access to a horse that I can ride at my barn that I work for. -Cynthia

I need HELP!! My trainer says I need to hold the reins by holding it with my pinky’s and putting my other fingers on top of the reins. The reins I use are thick so it really hurts my hands. Which makes it so I can’t even steer the horse correctly. Any tips? Im sick of making absolutely NO progress because of this problem.

Should have known, no stirrups! That was the ONLY way I could get the feel for sitting trot, I had to rotate my ankles to distract my legs from gripping!

I'd never heard of a exercise using pointing toes down. That's interesting. I guess it's so against the usual advice and some people would go too far with the idea, so it's not common. ..... I just googled about toes down and horse vaulting, apparently they ride with toes down. I don't know that any other discipline does that on purpose. Interesting.

Do you "jump" from the stirrups or thighs? How much weight do you put on the stirrups? 70%, less? 🙏💛

I could have used this video yesterday. I tried sitting the trot without stirrups and the horse broke into a canter and wouldn’t stop (I’ve never cantered before 😳). I managed to stay on and eventually jumped off. I will keep in mind to point my toes so this doesn’t happen again! Thank you for the great tips 🙏
