I have watched a lot of videos teaching carve turns and this is by far the best, as it's not just a video of someone holding a camera a just saying "keep your edge, and look at the line your board makes" You explained it perfectly, with a lot of examples of do's and dont's and lots of information
your instruction video is great. Especially this one and another one about steeper slope. As a skateboarder for 25 years, it is really helpful that any skater gets the feeling on parallel shoulder and hip forward to accommodate the slope and edge holding carving tips. Once master these tips, it is time to shred in snow park.
Your videos so good, I especially love the color captions that indicated the creator put a lot of effort on your videos, thanks for teaching, keep it up 😄
I can do some tricks, rails, go fast and commit but from what i saw in the camera i can't carve and never try to learn it until now... This tutorial is really good and really help my comprehension of carving . i'm coming back in a week to tell you if i can now do some carve !
Thanks for you comment Tom! I can deeply understand your feeling as I haven't focused on those kind snowboarding too. This type of freeriding is absolutely created these recent years, and now everyone want to learn this new style of snowboarding like you and me! So I wanted to introduce it with some guidance what we can do while freeriding.
Thanks for your comment Chris! Step 2 is available on our web side but for our training program subscribers. We are sorry for not to able to provide all tutorial here!
The snow was pretty hard early in the morning and I fell on my butt a couple of times while hopping uphill on my heels😄. I then tried doing the second half of a toe side carving turn. I tilted the board and successfully made a clean thin line. The problem was that I ended up falling, not sure if because I need to improve my balance while riding on the edge of the board or because I was intimidated by the speed I was getting. Later on I tried shallow turns on a mellower green run and I think I got them. The snow was already a bit slushy, but the path I was leaving was mostly a line.
Congratulations for your success! Heel side is hard to carve as I mentioned. You can try to bend your ankles as much as possible and push your knees toward your toes while on the heel edge. So your shins must be tired. You should be patient until you draw a thin pencil line with your heel edge but keep practicing! If you are unstable on your toe edge while carving, try standing straight on your toes just like Michael Jackson. However you should make an edge angle by leaning your shins toward uphill instead of by lifting your heels up. Then your balance while carving on your toe edge will be much stable. Shallow snake carving turns will help to learn the top half of a carving turn so you should keep practicing!
Thanks for your comment Bojan! Step 2 is available just for our training program subscribers. Sorry for that we can't provide all tutorial here but thanks again to watch our video Bojan!
Thanks for your comment Milan! Slope to practice carving turns must be wider, less angled and not busy for people new to carving. I would say "T-Bar Run" where is beside the Peak chair is the one of the best. On Blackcomb, Slopes around 7th heaven are good. School Marm is OK but you should try to go slopes where I recommended here.
when carving, I have already knowen using knees and ankles to bend more for more edge and style, but I sitll hard to touch the snow with hands, could you provide more tips for more lean for upper body ? Thank you
Hi Wess! You actually don't need to touch the ground but you can try to reach the ground. This exercise is just to become small while your weight is kept in the center of the board. If your ankles are bent and knees are always above your toes then you can go as lower as you can with your upper body. And you also don't need to become small to carve. But small standing position enables you to lean inside easier. But don't forget to keep your head and shoulders flat to the slope even if your chest is facing forward or aligning to your board. If you are facing forward while carving try to reach to the ground with your back hand while making toe side turns. And use your front hand to reach the ground for your heel side turns. Be careful to not rotate your upper body too much to avoid skidding.
@@snowboarddojowiz2928 Thank you, become small and small standing position means bending knees and ankles as much as possible, right ? so the tips of reaching the ground is not about leaning but small stance, right ?
Yes Wess. However if you want a quick edge changing you can lean your upper body toward toe side. To do this, you should make sure that your ankles are bent and knees are above toes, also head is standing straight and shoulders are flat to the slope. Your question helped us to create new idea for the next tutorial. We will work on it soon as possible!
