👌 Nice Charles. I appreciate you making this video. When folks ask me about having a saw ported I always tell them like with anything in life take the time to gather information from someone with the heart of a teacher so you have at least a basic understanding of the service you are having done. Videos like this presented by someone with the heart of a teacher, one with working knowledge is what this world needs. Perhaps you could pick up were the camera stopped some time.
@@CharlesBrisco That's frustrating when that happens. I have a bad habit of when I use multiple cameras, pausing one when I move it for a better angle then forgetting to unpause it, only to find out later I totally missed the shots I wanted.
Great video and great saying the fish/ monkey thing i remember as a kid and it always stuck with me. Appreciate you sharing what you learned i know sometimes the simple stuff takes the most time to figure out the hard way. Congrats on 3k buddy always knew you had the content for it just needed to be seen. Look forward to the next milestone.
Great video so here is my question I’m going to have my MTronic 362 ported what would the numbers be for this saw? I wrote down your numbers off the video but I’d like to get a more precise number and this saw will be used for everything so I like the idea of that big torque curve you drew. Thank you for your information.
1:46 No kidding!!!! I’ve never seen narrow minded ignorance that I’ve seen in the chainsaw community. I try to find smart people who do stuff differently than I do, it’s all about learning something new.
On your 550xp you're making very impressive power numbers, was watching you run the saws and noticed that you always rev rev the saw.. is that just style or does getting the high HP numbers make it die at idle or something? Having dyno Joe do my 550 now and I was trying to learn.. this is just super cool and interesting stuff is there any downside to having the saw be 6hp vs 5.2-5.4hp? Would love a continuation of this video from where your phone died.
@@CharlesBrisco thought that could have been it, been looking back though the vids, you made more HP and torque with your 543 than a stock 550 makes! That's impressive
Awesome video Charles⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ on your explanation we share very similar views on theory. I do have a question for you and I trust your opinion or do you stagger the 500 i transfers, or fire them at the same time?
Hey Charles I have a question with some preface. I have a blue g372xp that I am messing with. Not having the capability of machining the base or squish I opted for a 268 piston and 3 base gaskets. This give me 160 degrees intake 155 exhaust and if I remember correctly 20 degrees blowdown with .025 squish. The first piston is/was a flat top slab side made by dukes. I have a 268 pop up windowed made by highway coming. And some .006 base gaskets. The plan is to decrease squish to about .017. My question is on the lower transfers. I started by taking the shroud/ interior wall out to base height. In that iteration with the 268 flat top I felt the saw run very well. Well after purchasing the windowed flat top( and a couple of beers ) I thought well if a little is good a lot would be better right? So I took the interior wall down to the quad port partition start and widened the bottom of the transfers. I have an extra unmolested cylinder. My question is do you think that the interior wall is shrouding the transfer ports? Also do you think there is benefit from widening the lower transfers. I know yoi swapped from the 268 to a 371 piston in the one you built but without a lathe i don't know that that would be any benefit to me?
@@CharlesBrisco thanks. I really enjoy your channel, just trying to experiment within my capacity. In one of your videos you said you preferred windowed pistons to non windowed. Do you have a reason other than a feeling that windowed is better? No disrespect intended, I have seen your saws run and dynoed. You are in the top 1 % of saw builders in my opinion. I am just trying to learn.
Amen to that sir! I couldn't agree more! I like to see pics & vids. I show pics & vids of my builds from a cylinder on the lathe all the way to the test cuts when the build is complete. Then the "keyboard karens" chime in and have nothing to back up anything they say. I agree with Charles as well, where did all the hate come from? To hate on a guy who is teaching something or showing his work is just foolish! Saw Safe!
