Round 57! I have an abundance of (and regularly obtain) old, random rolls of super 8 film that were shot many years ago by their original owners. These cartridges were either inside cameras (or cases) that I've purchased or included with other lots of film I've purchased over the years or in some cases, sent to me by viewers.
In this video, we're going to see what's on these 2 cartridges of old Kodachrome KA-II Silent film. These were sent to me by a viewer (Pittsburgh Estate Sales).

It's a miracle you get an image out of this old footage. I know that freshly exposed film should be exposed ASAP. The grain will turn coarse very rapidly and I have seen well stored, exposed, non-expired 50D 16mm and it already looked more like 250D after about a year waiting before processing. Add to that poor storage conditions during many decades and on top of that cross processing. Always great to see these resurrected images from the past.

It's amazing how much you can get out of these old films! The car in the background of the pool scenes looks like a 1961-ish Buick.

Great video Mike 👍. Surprised you got any images from that Kodachrome, it’s notoriously difficult. That plane looks like a 172 skyhawk from the instrument panel. I learnt to fly in one many decades ago 😊

Thank you, Nicholas!! That's so awesome that you recognized the plane from the instrument panel!!

Wow! Mike, such a great presentation and thanks for the shout out !! We're working on another little box for you ... Looks like a fly over West Mifflin Pa, I can almost guess what estate that came from. Sorry about the Kodachrome! Who knew! Maybe the next batch will yield better results. Still its amazing what you do considering what you are working with. I will share this video on our facebook page so maybe some of our follower may recognize something ...

I have been wondering how these would look projected? I know you do the digital transfers but bet we would make out more of the images. As always thanks for sharing.

I only process B&W film as a negative, so projecting them looks pretty psychodelic 🤪. I actually have projected negative film though, when extracting the audio and it is quite funky. Thanks, as always for watching!!

It goes from what looks like a diving contest to some sort of plane flight and aerial photography. Unfortunately, you lost most of the aerial content.

Yes, definitely what it appears to be. Not much you can do with this old Kodachrome, I feel so lucky to have gotten what I did :)
