Took a little wilderness escape trip for sanity with the homie and bandmate Vinnie in summer 2020. This was before the huge Dolan Fire made most of this part of the coastline inaccessible several months later in the fall of 2020.
This was the first real "off-road" trip for my new 2020 TRD Off Road Rav4 to the spectacular vistas of the bit of California coastline known as Big Sur. We drove the Old Coast Road, a dirt track that rides up away from Highway 1 into the mountains above the coastline before plunging back down through redwood forests and rejoining the scenic highway just south of Andrew Molera State Park.
Driving further south we took Los Burros Spring road up into the mountains of the Los Padres National Forest and found several spectacular places to camp, enjoy the scenery, hang with the dogs--Fredwyn and Buddy--and play some music above the clouds and infinite ocean views.
