You can remove the dinosaur in your preferred image editing software and replace it with your own icon, or just leave it blank! I think as long as you don't clash with the pattern you can out pretty much what you want in that space.
I've had issues with Canva's QR code exports in the past. They downloaded okay, but when added to another graphic or even a PDF, the QR code become a solid black square. Ended up having to use Adobe's QR code generator (Free) online. But I liked Canva for the same reasons you mentioned. Maybe you can answer this question. Have you found an ideal pixel size for your final QR code? Something that's standard across multiple uses?
Oooooh shoot. Thanks so much for mentioning that. I haven’t had a problem with that yet. I always triple check before exporting & after exporting. Especially before sending to print. I haven’t used Adobes version, but glad to know there’s another option just in case. For sizing, I kind just play around depending on the size of the thing I’m creating with it. Business cards were a bit tricky bc I designed them much bigger than they printed so exporting the proof and testing the QR code as actual size was super helpful!
