My joints still hurt and I’m not a teenager anymore. T-T But I used to get dizzy all the time as a teenager. Woke up at night and the whole world was spinning for HOURS. Idk what an elephant feels like when growing but they start out pretty big to begin with. Or if there’s elephant puberty... I know “teenager” pigeons are all pretty shy and miserable, then possibly get a bad attitude as adults, so it’s very different for different animals.

At least they’ll have nice, long lives, safe from poachers, predators, and farmers. They’ll be able to enjoy shelter, food, entertainment, and lots of love.

Zoos may not look ideal, but they’re actually quite helpful. They keep the animals safe from poachers, and raise awareness about misunderstood animals. Most good zoos help with conservation of endangered species. The animals are given shelter, food, entertainment, and veterinary care.

@Lux • It's true it's based on rumors but the rumors do kind of add up. When you think about it, humans are very similar to baby elephants in appearance. We're small, we have eyes that look big sometimes due to the white sclera, and we have tiny trunks. Our nose resembles a trunk because it sticks out of our face. But, it doesn't stick out far, making it tiny in comparison. Our ears are also small and round, and placed on the side of our head like an elephant. Sometimes they stick out too, depending on the person. We also have fluffy heads and baby elephants are very fuzzy. And I know elephants view our noses as trunks because elephants wrap their trunks around people's noses sometimes, which is a sign of affection among elephants. So honestly, I'd find it odd if they didn't find us cute. They're very social and loyal to their babies so I imagine they have a concept of 'cute.' Their brain works similar to humans in many ways anyways. I'd compare it to how people find cats adorable because of their small noses and big eyes, and dogs are cute because of their fluffy cheeks and expressive faces. These are pretty consistent things in babies. Fluffy cheeks = fat cheeks, expression is, quite simply, because they can smile and frown- small nose because their nose is small, big eyes because their eyes are big. I know if I was an elephant I'd probably adore the cute little trunks humans have haha. Assuming their brain works the way I assume it does. Which, I'm not an elephant, so I could be entirely wrong. All I really mean to say is that the rumor is far from impossible. Also you're right elephants view people as a threat unless domestic, but the same applies to animals humans find adorable, like wolves or lions. They scare us, but they have the features of adorable, cuddly creatures and we want to pet them and love them when they pose no threat to us. Heck, we even find elephants- a dangerous creature- to be absolutely adorable. Sometimes we even think animals are cute when we know they're dangerous. When I find a venomous snake outside, I know I can't touch it and I have to keep a decent distance away, but all I can think is how freakin' cute it is with its little snout and dumb noodle body.

It is simply beautiful. These wonderful creatures are so clever and gentle, I love them. This baby is a treasure. They should live in their natural surroundings with much more space but, at least, they are in safety against the horrible poachers.

A couple of years ago, she had sadly an accident, and Artis Zoo has two veterinarians and they decided not to attach this hole. And luckily it doesn't hinder her for any activity. She can do whatever she wants:))

Release all elephants from any captive environment. Zoos. Private ownership. Entertainment venues. Big game trophy hunting needs to be abolished worldwide. It is a rich mans blood sport. Totally unacceptable.

@@lillanlofgren7424 I meant the elephant rides for tourists as part of 'entertainment venues'.......at a local shopping mall a few years ago there was a lone elephant walking in circles with shoppers on her back..... giving rides to publicize an opening of a silly store. When I looked into her eyes there was nothing...she hung her head and just plodded around a small circular area, all day long. I imagine that was her lonely life, oh--- so so wrong. I often wonder what happened to her. There is an elephant sanctuary here in Tennessee USA. I hope she might be there, and wish I had been more proactive back then.

Trust me, they’re better off here than in some roadside tourist attraction.

Because they are majestic,, intelligent creatures that deserve all the respect and kindness that caring individuals can give them. They are a fleeting beauty in a world that does the bare minimum to help them. We need more people to care about helping them, more people to donate actual funds to conservation programs, and less people to believe in the vanity of hunting these vanishing giants for little more than egotism or 'traditional medicine' delusions.
