@artistNexile I am very very connected to Stephanie Mills and as i said her version is excellent. I prefer voices with more core and depth in them, she can sound witchlike and coreless atimes to me.. The same reason why you say "Whitney had a voice people would want to listen" is the same reason I like it.. Depth, core, chest..and to me that is the technicality that i crave for.. I also do not agree she had a more technical voice. The vibrato in her version is very uneven and her held notes are tense...still excellent though. I also feel like her timbre lacks a bit of depth and sounds girlish People always talk about background, both of them grew up in the baptist church and sang there. Stephanie went on to do theatre and Whitney went on to do session work..Her version was recorded in 1979 before Stephanie's version, Whitney was only 16 And i prefer Whitneys version.. Clearer tone Which to me already screams technicallity. Clarity is one of the hallmarks of a well balanced voice and core.. About Live profeciency. No one can sing Home like Stephanie. I know of her live work, but this particular song, I doubt she ever sang it Live.. Whitney in this version and the three other Live versions of it, matches the album track and exceeds it in some places..
