The day I'd been waiting for for months. My brand new narrowboat was delivered on the back of a lorry and craned into the water for the first time. An extremely nervous day but hey, she floated!
It was then time to fill her up with diesel on my maiden voyage. We travelled up the Trent & Mersey Canal from Wincham Wharf to Uplands Marina, north of Northwich. Alice moved through the water really nicely and it was time for me to learn how to drive her.
Then a very cold night sleeping in a tent within the boat. -2 degrees Celsius inside the tent but Molly and I kept each other warm.
