If you’re more curious about really caring for and trying to restore some white shirts you should absolutely check out Rajiv Surendras video on washing whites. Not at all someone in the heritage community, but I swear that video was absolutely eye opening for me and a complete game changer. My white shirts stay so bright these days.
Another awesome video. Just wanted to say I really appreciate you. It's so nice to see someone just simply review cool stuff without any of the psuedo sale stuff. Your integrity and passion for quality shines through
I have organic cotton shirts from IOAN and it’s super soft. Also, from what I read from the same company, natural dye can be uneven, so Tezomeya organic shirts using natural dyes can have those characteristics. I would say, just enjoy the shirt. It’s a nice PJ shirt for sure.
I have go shout out boncoura pocket t. I wouldn’t have one if I didn’t return a T-shirt that didn’t fit and put that money towards the boncoura t. But I’m glad I did it really is the goat to me. The fabric is amazing and it seems pretty much flawless in its construction
I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a un-dyed Tezomeya. Once I had a T-shirt from Go Hemp, another interesting Japanese brand, that had this kind of artisanal, hippie feel to it. It was not loop-wheeled or anything, but was very soft and comfy. And it was 55% hemp, 45% organic cotton. Anyway, looking forward to my Tezo to arrive. They said it takes about a month!
I'll just tack this on since i have a few Gustin shirts myself, their Skinny Tee's aren't too durable, i have a bunch and half of them have holes on them after like a month of wear, especially where the pocket tee is sewn own, however I do really love their Heavyweight Tees, absolute better shaping and form, but so run a bit small so size up
Everything looks great. I recently bought Barns and GraphZero t-shirts. Both Japanese, the first one is loopwheeled, second one is indigo dyed. A long delivery time from Japan, can't wait to see them.
Interesting how your Tezomeya has faded. I have the same t-shirt, same colour from them and have washed it easily about 20-30 times so far (30 degrees, minimum spin). It has only faded unevenly around the inside of the collar but the rest looks like pretty uniform fading.
I can highly recommend Sunray sportswear’s loopwheel tees, designed in Cornwall but made on vintage looms in Japan,no side seams and a range of shapes/colours.
Nice review Cameron. Anything with natural dye, its good to add a bit of vinegar + salt when you wash it as it will helps retain the colour. Between, how is your SDA Fox Cotton tee going? I absolutely love mine but I haven't wear and wash mine much.
Thanks for the update. I’ve bought a few off the back of your videos and recommendations. Gutted to see what has happened with your Tezomeya one. I have a couple of those in darker colours and am nervous that they might do the same.
@@CameronO I visited Tezomeya in Kyoto back in November and bought 4 shirts from them. All of them have been fading nicely and evenly. I think you got unlucky. I would totally recommend giving them another shot!
@@garyv1483 I washed them normally -- inside out and using persil detergent. I have since switched to a more natural detergent without optical brighteners and stuff, but neither have caused issues -- however, the green tezomeya shirt I have does have 1 spot where the color is light, I assumed I dripped a drop of an acidic beer or something on my chest but it could just be that one tiny spot losing dye faster than the rest. The company is awesome, though. They're so small and the fabric is incredible. The natural cotton colored shirt is one of my favorite shirts ever. It's heavy and fits SO well!
Id probably disapoint a lot of people. Apart from natural deodorant I wash them like normal (30c) fold them and put them away. Most are so durable they can handle anything (even baby sick, daily!)
The faults you pointed out in the Tezomeya shirt make me want to buy one XD I love when garments show character The one you had reminded me a lot of visvims un-even dye shirts, which are exactly that, uneven and really cool in my opinion!
The only thing stopping me buying Tezomeya is the size - the largest they do would just be too snug on me. I have no issues with how yours has faded, I really like it! Can you tell me if the 3sixteen is a Large? A bit more snug than I expected. And have you tried the Dubbleworks heavy fabric pigment-dyed tee? It looks amazing but unfortunately I have vastly exceeded my t-shirt budget so it'll have to wait.
Return to the T-shirt vids and I love it. It’s what first found me the channel! Anyway I was on the precipice of pulling the trigger on a tezomeya and I’m straight shook now, really concerned about that dye fading. Thanks for the info and reviews. More to think about.
Haha thanks mate. I wouldn't let it put you off tbh. It seems I'm an isolated case and I can't recall how i first washed it. So it could be my error with temps etc. It's still a lovely soft shirt! Thanks for watching :)
I have that exact SDA shirt and it is wonderful, I haven't owned mine as long but it fits nicely and love the soft feeling of it, for reference SDA has slightly different sizing so be careful when ordering and pay attention to the tag size, for reference I'm 6'2 and about 150lbs and I also fit the L (40-42) size perfectly. I just got a second pair of a printed SDA shirt that features Kamen Rider
I know you don’t like the flat head tee as the stitching is a bit full on around the neck But I rate my black tee the fit is perfect for me I think as I’m a shorter guy maybe I have the Japanese frame ? Any way I love you’re vids man !
Agree, I'm not a graphic tee guy. I remember buying this thinking "what am I doing" Though strangely I love distressed or well worn in vintage t-shirts. So I was hoping this would end up nice and worn out.
Great video as usual Cam, what would you recommend in this type of quality T with a slightly shorter sleeve, I really don't like the long loose sleeves that come more then halfway down the arm (UES), I have to show off the guns 🙂 , but its very hard to see online where the sleeve hits.- I have a TANUKI HEAVY SHINKAI T-SHIRT on the way from RedCast so I am hoping it fits as it looks.
I got some 4601 after your last video about them and I absolutely love them. But I somehow dyed them pink in the wash at some point, which was a bummer
If you wash clothing with a little “ Oxi Clean versatile powder” your clothing will never bleed even if you drop something like a hot pink sock in your white laundry load. It will also slightly remove accidental “pink” color transfer from a wash mix up accident if you wash right away. I always toss a little in my laundry especially in my loads that have multicolor with white so there’s no stress wondering is it or isn’t it going to bleed. It’s a life saver.
How about to dye the Tezomeya shirt? With no natural coulrs? I like the Warehouse too. If you don’t want the Tee to be shrunk you should have washed it the First time with no or less spinning in the washer. Try it the next time.
I've come to the conclusion that TK Maxx is the way for plain t shirts. I've had some really nice ones over the years and the most I've spent is about 25 quid (which I think was a John Richmond). Really like the Folk ones I've had as well as a Moss one I got in ecru. I occasionally buy second hand like a studio dartisan, merz b, real McCoy's and a Sunspel but even they I haven't spent more than 30. I'm too likely to ruin a t shirt to spend much
Great video. I picked up the dark green tezomeya a few months ago and after washing it a few times the color completely washed out and was left with a few of those bleached looking patches on the front and back. I wonder if the re-dying they offer would completely fix it
Came across your channel and loved your videos on tshirts! Wondering if you may have any insights on this brand Glad Hand & Co? They had ads all over Japanese Men’s fashion magazine in recent years, made with USA cotton? Not sure if they made them in Japan 😮
Absolutely love the idea of a long term update for shirts! Another Tezomeya datapoint - Like @sendmeavision below, so far I haven't had any weird fading on mine (though currently with a relatively low number of washes). Question for you (and/or other viewers) - I picked up a few various loopwheel shirts when I was recently in Japan, but none have had the same crazy soft and slubby feel as Tezomeya, so I wondered if it was because of the fox fibre fabric. I couldn't find any Studio D'Artisan fox fibre shirts in person to compare. Having both Tezomeya and Studio D'Artisan fox fibre shirts, would you say that feel is likely due to the fox fibre fabric? Would you say any of your other shirts have a similar feel?
Fox fibre is more about the natural color variances than softness -- but it's a very dry texture typical of shorter staple cottons from what I've seen, although I haven't felt one broken in.
What's a brand that's garment dyed shirts like jungmaven? They seem to have the most selection of vibrant colors. I just wanted to see if there's anything else up there. As I'm in Florida so their hemp / blends are perfect for the weather
