Quick update, so two years after making this video, things started to break on the bag. One of the hip belt buckles snapped and the stitches on one of the straps are starting to come loose. It would seem the life of the bag is around 2 years after heavy use but for $40 I can't complain.
I was looking for a replacement for my Vanguard travel backpack when I saw this fine- looking and almost new Forclaz 100 40l backpack in our local thriftshop which was originally priced at €20. I immediately looked it up in Google and RU-vid for reviews and I read that it was a great 40l pack for traveling. I went back the next day to buy it and fortunately, it was still there, sitting on the shelf. I inspected it, and it was fine so I went to the cashier to pay for it. To my surprise, the shopkeeper even reduced it to €18. Oh, nice, so I bought it and looked forward to using it for my day out with my wife. Oh my, one of the best purchases I made, the pack was spacious and easy on my shoulders! The materials used for the bag were truly excellent. Happy to have found and purchased one!
Another great video! Great commitment to real, long-term, and practical advice too! You mentioned knife carry, could you do a video on your experience in different countries on what items could cause issues with security checks, solutions for carrying them, if any, and what items aren't worth the hassle?
I have experimented with packing my laptop in bags that have metal rods like and including this one. There was no problem. However, I placed the lappy in its sleeve before tucking it in such a compartment.
Hi, did you manage/try to get this as a personal bag on any flights? I have a old bagpack that looks like a business bagpack and it has dimensions of 55/35/25 when fully loaded and I never had any problems using it as a personal bag (no paying anything extra for weight or carry on).
Well depends on how much you load it and how long you wear it for. Remember this is not designed for hiking, it designed for a minimalist traveller that is carrying around a city or in an airport. If you are hiking, go for an Osprey as they are much more comfortable.
Yes, weight is more of a problem than size. It's easier to get it over 8kg but as long they don't weigh it you will be fine. Try not over fill the side and top pocket as it makes it look much bigger.
@@budget_nomad So do you simply put all your clothes inside of a small bag and compresses them inside of the actual bag? In the video you sent me you said you used to have compressions cubes. Isn't worth it?
Since the bag has not much organization. You can buy packing cubes from Decathlon. They have packing cubes specifically designed for this particular bag. I am using those. 3 for $10
