One thing I can say is that you have done a great job of building your house. I don't know if you have ever built any structures before but you have done great with this house.

Suggestion anywhere you have holes drilled to the outside stuff around pipe or electrical with steel wool and sprayfoam as it will prevent mice from getting in .

I built a room onto a trailer once and I insulated it like you are doing. I had water standing in the floor almost two inches deep. I didn't know y had to put a moisture barrier on the ground underneath the floor. I hope you won't have that problem.

Im glad you had the trusses built off site . Much better . This part is just a comment not directed to you just an observation everyone i watch that builds a home out in the wilderness never think of barn style roof so if you had a loft you get more headroom than a standard pitched roof .

Hey, thanks and I know you weren't directing the comment at us directly but the reason we did the simple 4:12 roof was for simplicity of installing it when we did and with just the two of us. Makes for truss, strapping & metal roof installation much easier for us.

What size is your floor plan? It looks like it will be spacious enough.

The cabin is 600 sq ft. We are doing and extension now however and that will double it.

Hey, thanks for your concern, having said that, this roof is plenty strong to handle lots of snow. And we have lots of experience living with bears. We respect them and take precautions when necessary. All the best,

Love the deck one problem your going to run into is moisture staying on the deck which will prematurely decrease the life span you need to leave gaps in the decking so water and snow can run off solid decks retain water causes rot . Just info not criticizing.

Hey, that is actually not how it is done anymore. The decking will naturally shrink up overtime, no need to leave gaps. Thanks.

Maybe I missed something but at around 12:27ish, there was just a few more joists to cover with insulation and a few seconds later there didn’t appear to be any insulation under the flooring at all.

Another potential problem is flooding as your below grade road sloping down to cabin no place for water to drain , and a fire break of 30 feet around the house dont want to loos all that hard work to fire .

Hey, we actually have a ditch and drainage all around the cabin, you could see it in our other videos where we show each step broke down in smaller sections, also, we do plan on clearing a bit more trees in a couple of spots where it is still close. Thanks.

Good job but one thing id do different is your foundation as its most important id use pressure treated lumber or if you didnt want the chemicals then sho shugi ban the wood prevents rot bug infestation and fire ..
